Position: VPI Operator - 1st Shift

Team: Winding

Primary Objective of Position:

Operate VPI equipment per operating instructions in order to impregnate required electrical component i.e. half coils, shunt coils, wound stators, wound exciter rotors and wound exciter stators. Operate mill, shear, band saw, drill press and other machining equipment in order to manufacture slot wedges, filler and other glastic parts.

Major Areas of Accountability:


  • Mix and regulate resin level.

  • Operate oven for pre and post heat operation.

  • Assure VPI operation conforms to current procedure.

  • Install bolts and release agent as required prior to impregnation as well as removing bolts and excess resin after impregnation.

  • Assist quality department with wet tests.

  • Use bar coding system to correctly maintain accurate direct and indirect labor hours.

  • Interpret and use routings, shop standards, process specifications, and work instructions.

  • Perform routed operations within or better than routed goal hours.

  • Schedule work to assure on time performance

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance.

  • Responsible for demonstrating on-going commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Perform to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abide to OSHA and EPA Regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High School degree (preferred) with a 1 year of manufacturing experience (preferred).

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, processes and bill of materials.

  • Must have math skills for layout and machine work.

  • Demonstrated ability in using a variety of precision measuring tools.

  • Ability to schedule, stock and maintain inventory to manufacture insulation.

  • Must be able to assist maintenance dept. in maintaining equipment.

  • Must be able to set up and complete wet test of stators as required.

  • Ability to be certified in overhead crane, Jib crane and forklift operation.

  • Must be able to use hand and air power tools.

  • Requires the skills to operate six different ovens.

  • Must be able to read and write English.

  • Must be able to interact with outside vendors

  • Must be able to interact with all departments


Salary

Based on experience and qualifications

Pay Types

Voluntary weekend overtime.

Saturday is paid at time and a half, Sundays are paid at double time!

Job Type

Monday � Friday, 7:00 a.m. � 3:30 p.m.

  • Routinely lifts and moves objects up to 20 lbs.

  • Occasionally lifts and moves objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Routinely ascends/descends ladders and stairs.

  • Occasionally works at heights or on platforms.

  • Occasionally positions self in various works spaces, including low, tight or confined spaces.

  • Routinely moves from one work station to another to accomplish tasks.
