We operate in Canada as Engineered Lifting Systems and Equipment (ELS)/DBA Gorbel® Canada, and subsequent communication related to Canadian positions may show the ELS name. Job Description:

Directs and executes operational and production strategies encompassing Manufacturing, Supply Chain (purchasing, scheduling and logistics), and Quality and Continuous Improvement. As a top business leader in the organization, the VP of Operations is a decision making member of the Executive Leadership Team. Participates in overall strategic and operational business planning for the company. Leads and coaches a multi-functional team to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity, and to meet operational and financial goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and role model organizational culture and values, specifically delivering Business Results, Integrity, Positive People in a Positive and Inclusive Environment, Extraordinary Customer Experience, and Future Orientation and Commitment to Personal Growth.
  • Create vision and drive the safety culture across the organization. Drive root cause analysis to implement corrective action and preventative actions. Develop best practices and establish standardized practices across all factories.
  • Participate on the Business Development Team to help instill forward-thinking culture that strives for continuous innovation, market differentiation and design-for-manufacturability. Create an environment that fosters growth. Identify and develop new business opportunities. Collaborate with executive management to assure appropriate synergy and integration of new business development activities.
  • Engage customers. Listen to and understand the needs of internal and external customers. Strive to exceed customer expectations. Create and maintain competitive advantages within each functional area of responsibility.
  • Review and approve proposals for capital expenditures. Develop and administer budgets across operations functions. Allocate resources to accomplish company's strategic and operational plans. Monitor expenditures, activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with key customers, vendors/suppliers, licensees, and others to negotiate contracts, resolve problems, and keep abreast of future developments in their businesses.
  • Lead team focused on accelerating growth through the effective identification and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and processes. Drive understanding, acceptance and implementation of Lean Manufacturing and office techniques and continuous process improvements to improve customer experiences, reduce costs, increase throughput, and improve quality.
  • Lead change and easily build influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Participate in the annual strategic planning process and partner with other top leaders in the execution and oversight of strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate and advise on acquisition, divestiture, and partnership opportunities.
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and coach staff. Coordinate staff development activities.
  • Promote and exemplify organizational culture and values.
  • Manage special projects and significant initiatives as necessary.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years proven management experience in a manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 5 years as a top leader of the manufacturing, logistics, and materials functions.
  • Proven ability to develop and grow direct and indirect reports.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision making skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Process Improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to achieve results leading cross-functional teams.
  • High self-awareness and emotional maturity; low ego.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Growth-minded and optimistic.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and strong ERP knowledge.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 15% total travel)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • MBA
  • Experience with Syteline (CSI) ERP
  • International manufacturing, supply chain, and distribution experience desired
  • Experience in leading projects or teams outside the scope of the Operations function.
