JOB SUMMARY - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The VP of Sales will define and lead the development of strategic plans to drive profitable revenue growth for their specific division. Responsible for successful execution of the Sales Plan and Operating income commitment.

Additionally, the VP of Sales will be responsible for the continuous development of the sales organization - focused on sales revenue as well as both people and processes. This will include the upgrading of the skills of the sales force in the areas of customer relationship management, time management, negotiating and closing skills, sales planning, and use of all technologies necessary to maximize productivity and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads management team in development of sales strategies that support the division's business plan; responsible for control and management of division's sales P&L. Leads efforts in allocating quotas across sales team and OPEX budgets
  • Ensures that sales management team and internal management are up to date on industry, competitor and product knowledge and changes
  • Maintains awareness of broad industry trends and their impact on the overall business objective
  • Makes decisions and provides direction to sales support/marketing staff members in activities that support sales promotion, product launches, clinical trials, sales training etc.
  • Provides clarity and direction for effective personnel development including but not limited to attracting, recruiting and retaining top talent and utilizing review process, Individual Development Plans and Performance Improvement Plans to optimize performance and develop talent
  • Conducts quarterly sales reviews and adjusts strategies accordingly
  • Participates in sales forecasting sessions and determines the market potential and sales expense estimates
  • Develops and maintains relationships with the key economic buyers in their division. Builds and maintains strong relationships with senior level, IHN, hospital administrators, CFO's, CEO's, etc.
  • Defines negotiation parameters for tough economically constrained customer situations and creates deal modeling/contracting protocols for the sales force
  • Ensures all agreements are aligned with AngioDynamics national account agreements and strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key AngioDynamics functional areas including but not limited to Quality, Corporate Sales, marketing, finance, supply chain, R&D, HR and regulatory affairs
  • Develop, implements, and holds staff accountable to the pricing strategy and financial objectives
  • Is an active member of the leadership team which establishes strategy and direction for the business unit
  • Determines most efficient sales channel distribution to increase profitable revenue growth
  • Ultimately responsible for sales force motivation/moral
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training/coaching and terminating employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; salary administrations; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Manages in order to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory/legal requirements
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support
  • Ensure all employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented
  • Ensure applicant SOP's are understood and implemented
  • May perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS-The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor Level of Degree in the Business Administration, Management, Marketing or related field of study: MBA preferred
  • 15 years of demonstrated experience in successful sales management, documented success in sales, sales management, and/or marketing
  • Demonstrated experience leading a large US salesforce with proven results in driving revenue growth and developing and leading strategic sales plans
  • Demonstrated experience at developing strategies that better position the organization to satisfy customer and business needs based on broad understanding of the business environment

Skills/Knowledge
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in all required areas
  • Must possess the ability to lead change in a complex environment
  • Must have strong background in people management, be viewed by his/her peers as a leader
  • Must possess the ability to determine and set direction and have the courage to follow through on that direction
  • Must possess the ability to engage customers at all levels in an account and be proficient in interacting at the CEO/CFO level
  • Proficient in the following computer software applications: Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance. instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs
  • Ability to regularly sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • This position requires some travel up to 75% of the time
