University of La Verne
Search for the Vice President of Enrollment Management
La Verne, California

The University of La Verne (La Verne) seeks an entrepreneurial and strategic leader to serve as its next Vice President of Enrollment Management (VPEM). The Vice President will join the University of La Verne at an exciting time, as the university welcomed Dr. Pardis Mahdavi as its 19th president last fall and is making strong progress toward its 2025 Strategic Vision. Employing a collaborative spirit and approach, the VPEM will have the opportunity to partner with stakeholders across campus to optimize enrollment, build partnerships, and implement a bold vision and strategy that leverages La Verne's rich history to enroll a diverse group of traditional age, adult, and graduate learners. With a strong tradition of providing affordable, accessible, high-quality education, the University of La Verne's unique academic offerings present an appealing and dynamic landscape for a new Vice President to shape the future of its enrollment.

Founded in 1891, the University of La Verne is a private, not-for-profit institution in La Verne, California, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles. The university comprises five colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, the LaFetra College of Education, the College of Law and Public Service, and the Cástulo de la Rocha College of Health and Community Well-Being. The university also encompasses seven regional campuses throughout Southern California and provides robust online offerings. Scholastic opportunities abound, with 50 undergraduate programs, 20 master's degrees, five doctorates (including a Juris Doctor degree), and six credential programs.

The University of La Verne is ranked sixth nationally for social mobility of students by U.S. News & World Report and among the top 10 best private national universities in California. La Verne serves approximately 5,300 traditional age and adult learners from myriad backgrounds, helping make the federally-designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) one of the most diverse universities in the nation. Nearly half of the traditional undergraduates are first-generation students, and more than 95 percent of La Verne students receive some form of financial aid. The university is also a pioneer in adult education, offering accelerated programs for adult learners at the La Verne Campus, regional campuses, and online.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Enrollment Management will be the university's chief enrollment officer and a key member of the President's Executive Cabinet. The VPEM will lead the university in the areas of admission, financial aid, academic advising, career services, and corporate partnerships, utilizing data and technology to enhance enrollment operations and employing a collaborative and transparent style to effectively work with colleagues and partners both on campus and in the community. They will be tasked with meeting net tuition revenue and student headcount goals and will be innovative and adept at promoting current academic programs, as well as bringing forth recommendations for new recruitment ideas, marketing strategies, and academic programs that match the university's mission, available resources, and market demand. To be successful, the Vice President will be capable of directing high-level strategy, engaging in the many fundamental pieces of the enrollment function at a private institution while addressing the following:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy around undergraduate, graduate, and professional school enrollment;
  • Partner with academic affairs to align recruitment strategies with programmatic needs and market demands;
  • Build and support an environment of collaboration and excellence in the enrollment management unit;
  • Attract, admit, and enroll a diverse pool of qualified students; and
  • Build a strong data and measurement function that leverages the use of technology.
