<p>We are accepting applications for a Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion who will fulfill the mission of Norwich University by developing, implementing and monitoring programs that promote diversity within the University in compliance with University policies and federal and state regulations, including but not limited to, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAA), the Rehabilitation Act, the Clery Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and other state and federal civil rights regulations and guidelines. The VP, D&amp;I serves as the University's Title II/Section 504 Coordinator.</p>

<p>Essential Functions</p>

<p>Advises the President, Provost, and executive leaders regarding matters of diversity and inclusion to include strategic planning, training, policies and procedures, and best practices.</p>

<p>Serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.</p>

<p>Coordinates the development of policies and practices to attract, retain, and promote a workforce and student body representative of the communities our graduates will serve.</p>

<p>Maintain current knowledge and recommends modifications to policies and procedures in accordance with changing antidiscrimination laws, compliance agency expectations, compliance measures, enhancements to organizational culture and climate, and best practices for advancing diversity and inclusion.</p>

<p>Introduces initiatives appropriate to the unique needs of the University and the community of learning regarding internationalization, climate, culture, and inclusiveness.</p>

<p>Creates and facilitates training and workshops and oversees programs, activities, and initiatives for faculty, staff, and students designed to foster a climate that promotes and respects an inclusive campus culture that embraces pluralism and diversity.</p>

<p>Partners with academic leaders, including Deans and Chairs, to effectively engage faculty and, as requested, advise the development of curriculum and pedagogy related to inclusion and diversity.</p>

<p>Works with the Office of Institutional Research to develop metrics for measuring campus climate and prepares reports on the outcomes of diversity and climate initiatives.</p>

<p>Encourages, empowers, and mentors students across lifestyles to integrate diversity and inclusion efforts into clubs, campus events, university traditions, athletic teams, and other facets of campus life.</p>

<p>Establishes and maintains constructive relationships, including as Chair of the Campus Climate Team, that create and maintain effective institutional culture and facilitates collaboration among diverse internal and external stakeholders at all levels and functions.</p>

<p>Maintains best practices on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field, e.g., professional memberships and associations, educational groups, and professional development opportunities.</p>

<p>Prepares internal and external reports regarding the University's diversity, equality, and inclusion efforts and accomplishments.</p>

<p>Communicates with colleagues, employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.</p>

<p>Chairs or serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.</p>

<p>Performs other tasks as assigned by the President or Provost.</p>

<p>Requirements:</p>

<p>PhD preferred, minimum requirement is a Juris Doctorate or Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Preferred fields of expertise are higher education administration, human resources, or other relevant discipline.</p>

<p>At least 10 years' experience and a demonstrated record of strong leadership addressing organizational culture and climate, preferably related to diversity and inclusion actions, preferably in higher education.</p>

<p>Extensive knowledge of diversity issues, current trends, and best practices.</p>

<p>Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state laws applicable to institutions of higher education that address discrimination, including but not limited to Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAA), the Rehabilitation Act, the Clery Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), as well as other state and federal civil rights regulations and guidelines.</p>

<p>Must be able to:</p>

<p>Use computers, telephones, and general office equipment, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; must develop proficiency as needed</p>

<p>Speak, read and write in English</p>

<p>Communicate by telephone, email, letter, or in person</p>

<p>Deliver presentations to large, diverse groups</p>

<p>Facilitate group activities</p>

<p>Sit, stand, kneel, squat, reach, push, pull, and use hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment</p>

<p>Travel outdoors to various parts of the campus</p>
