VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center, in Madison/Janesville, WI is expanding its leadership team and is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to supervise the Emergency & Critical Care Service.

VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center has three locations in Middleton, Madison, and Janesville. Our Madison/Janesville location is AHHA accredited, is open 24/7, 365 days a year, and provides a wide range of specialty and emergency critical care. Our services and medical equipment mirror what one would find at a human medical center. We offer a team approach to veterinary medicine where specialists work together to provide the most advanced care possible for every patient utilizing the newest diagnostic equipment and therapeutic techniques.

Our Emergency and Critical Care Team is the heart of our hospital. Our Emergency and Critical Care Technicians thrive in a fast-paced service, handle critical cases, and enjoy the stimulating caseload.

Being a Technician Supervisor means you are a believer in the possibilities of high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care-with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. Having mastered the entire range of vet tech skills yourself, you are a role model for the team. You will work alongside our Medical Director, Hospital Manager, and Hospital Technical Supervisor to provide mentorship, ensure the hospital runs efficiently and fosters a winning environment.

This is a working supervisory position which is responsible for the leadership and of the ER Technician Staff. In addition to Veterinary Technician responsibilities, duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Mentoring ER technical staff (CVT/VA)

  • Participating in hiring, interviewing, scheduling of ER technical staff

  • Regular meetings with Technical Supervisor

  • Assist in scheduling staff meetings

  • Ensure policy of hospital is being followed

  • Customer service

  • ECC staff schedule - filling holes (or delegating to ECC Leads), fill in shifts as needed and occasionally - Permanent shifts on floor (2/week)

  • Emergent Staffing, ECC, shared with ECC Leads.

  • Perform disciplinary actions including write ups and follow up conversations (working w/ TS and HR)

  • Approve/deny and track vacation requests for staff

  • Track absences for staff

  • Track communications and concerns from or about staff

  • Perform Workday tasks (leaves, etc.)

  • Monitor time sheets and enter appreciation pay/bonuses, training differentials, sick pay, etc. as able (with help from TS)

  • Assist with training where needed

  • Safety Inspections performed with Leads (monthly inspections, posting minutes, entering results)

Strong skills are required. Must be dedicated to creating a healthy work environment where all employees are elevated, empowered and enjoy what they do.

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician- CVT, LVT, RVT,

  • 3+ years of clinical experience

  • Team leadership experience

  • Passion for Veterinary Medicine

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
