Job Description

This position is for a Virtual Propulsion Calibration Analysis Engineer for Virtual Design, Development & Validation (VDDV). Typical functions will involve developing engine and transmission controls calibrations using model-based calibration methods and creating physics-based models. Candidate should be capable of managing very broad or numerous projects with high degree of difficulty and exercise independent judgement and decision making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate Design of Experiments (DoE) for engine dynamometer to run necessary measurement data
  • Utilize tools to generate values for calibrations from measured data
  • Create physics-based models
  • Utilize engine models (GT-Power) to generate calibration values
  • Develop new and innovative analytical techniques to generate calibration values from models - or minimal test data
  • Participate in controls design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management
  • Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions using a standard report template
  • Cooperatively work with test engineers to develop and/or enhance laboratory procedures to validate system analysis results
  • Domestic travel, once or twice per year as needed.

Additional Job Description

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 2+ years experience with CAE Tools, including MATLAB and GT-Power
  • Highly proficient in delivering high quality analysis results which enable first time capable calibrations
  • Highly proficient in leading capability growth projects to develop new analytical techniques
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Thorough understanding and skills to work at high level in all phases of the vehicle development process
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience with GT-Power or other engine modeling software
  • Modeling experience for aftertreatment (TWC, GPF, DOC, DPF, SCR) and / or emissions
  • Gasoline, Diesel, Transmission, or Electrification knowledge and experience
  • Engine, transmission, or electrification calibration and controls experience
  • Engine, transmission, or electrification testing and development experience

Education:

BS in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Software Engineering/Aerospace Engineering required

MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Software Engineering/Aerospace Engineering preferred
