Job Summary

The Apprenticeship will be located in our Fond du Lac, WI Operations Center. This program will go throughout the summer and into the upcoming school year where you will have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy industry. This is a great opportunity to explore a future career path!

• You must be 17 years old by the start date to be considered for this role.

What you'll do:

• Performs various unskilled physical work required in the field operations area.
• Assists crews with routine service work related to the company's gas, service and electric systems. Assist with staking for new construction.
• Performs maintenance of buildings, vehicles, equipment and grounds as assigned. May include routine cleaning of equipment or janitorial work.
• Keeps informed about and abides by the required Safety Rules, Operating Practices and codes.
• Provides storeroom support such as preparing materials for distribution, inventory control, etc.
• Performs other responsibilities which are similar, related or incidental to this position.

Education Requirements

• Current high school student
• Completion of Junior year of high school
• Enrolled in classes for the upcoming academic calendar year

Other Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 382), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations
• Please note - you must be 17 years old by the start date to be considered for this role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic mechanical ability (ex. using hand tools, taken Shop class) and interest in utility construction.
• Effective communication skills
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group
• Strong reading comprehension and problem solving skills
• Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
