Staff Software Engineer - DDI

The DDI team is accountable for the availability, stability and performance of Network Services including DNS and DHCP services. DDI services are exposed to systems in various locations such as Data Centers, Public Cloud, Stores, Distribution Centers and Home Office.   • You have abundant professional experience with managing enterprise DNS Solutions like Infoblox as well as opensource alternatives like BIND, DNSdist, PowerDNS or Unbound.
  • You contributed to architecture and design of progressive growing Infrastructure environment.
  • You're familiar with Public Cloud solutions like Azure and GCP.
  • You have Linux experience, TCP/IP protocols, subnet masking
  • Scripting and programming language experience in Python
  • You meticulously draw architecture flow diagrams (e.g. Visio, draw.io, Lucidchart)


You'll make an impact by...
  • Optimize DNS performance (query analysis, capacity management, zone transfers)
  • Deploy Infoblox Solutions manually or automatically with Terraform, RESTAPI.
  • Manage MYSQL database for inventory of IPv4 and IPv6 allocations.
  • Manage External DNS: Registry, Legal team, Vendor Solutions like Akamai and UltraDNS
  • Leverage home-grown scripts to administer DNS/DHCP for thousands of sites.
  • Be focal person for incident calls... isolating root cause, troubleshooting.
  • Validate new environments are built to standard.
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies.


Qualifications...
  • Recent working experience as DDI Technical Lead.
  • Over 10 years senior-level experience supporting Production Infrastructure with hundreds of servers and thousands of users/clients.
  • Experience supporting both internal and external DNS for large corporation. Desirable candidates have experience managing capacity demand for progressively growing environment and abundant experience migrating DDI services between different solutions.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of various DDI solutions (e.g. Infoblox, BIND, PowerDNS).
  • Willingness and drive to learn new technologies.
  • Working experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, REST API
  • Ability to quickly understand complex system under pressure.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in automating DNS workflows: a subject matter expert that understands what DNS can and can't do.
  • Working knowledge of ISC DHCP or ISC KEA.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at a variety of levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to lead engineers through completion of build projects, maintenance tasks and troubleshooting sessions
  • Ability to evaluate and deploy new DDI products which include open source DDI solutions.
  • Very effective at managing time accordingly despite competing objectives.
  • Kubernetes training or certifications a plus.
  • IPv6 training or certifications. Experience with IPv6 a plus.
  • Experience or training with MySQL, MariaDB a plus.
  • Familiarity with load balancing methodology
  • Experience with server hardening and PCI-compliance.
