Basic Job Functions:

BACKGROUND:

Universal Industrial Gases, LLC. (UIG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor and a well-established, global engineer, constructor, supplier and operator of air separation plants and related equipment and services, based in Bethlehem, PA. UIG owns and operates production plants across the USA which supply both Nucor steel sites and third-party clients 24/7 with tonnage quantities of oxygen, nitrogen and argon as well as exporting liquid cryogenic products by road tanker.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

UIG is currently seeking Project Manager accountable for the execution of one or more simultaneous projects for industrial gas plants. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Manage the entire project life-cycle from initiation through closure
• Develop project execution strategies to successfully complete the work safely, on time and within budget
• Develop and maintain project execution plan that defines schedule, budget, scope of work, deliverables list, risks, etc.
• Accountable for delivery of agreed schedule and budget, by leading the project team, setting priorities, coordinating project work, tracking engineering and suppliers' activities against schedule, tracking costs against budget, focusing on risk identification and mitigation, developing and implementing recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences
• Lead weekly project team meetings
• Regularly prepare and present Project Status Report on safety, budget, schedule and progress for upper management
• Primary point of contact for clients and suppliers on assigned scope
• Establish and maintain a positive and effective client relationship, ensuring payment terms are met, and communicating progress and any delays
• Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors and resolve cost, schedule and quality issues
• Negotiate project scope or specification changes with clients and suppliers, approve modifications to scope, cost, and schedule, and document change orders in required format
• Assist in the project proposal activities as required
• Assist in the evaluation and selection of suppliers, contractors and third-party engineering partners
• Assists in development of project management work best practices, processes, procedures and tools
• Collect and maintain Lessons Learned log and assist with the company continuous improvement effort


Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline
  • Five plus years of experience in engineering or project management in an EPC environment
  • Ability to lead project teams, read and interpret engineering documentation, project specifications and requirements
  • Broad understanding of project and engineering management tools and techniques such as scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, estimating, reporting, etc.
  • Excellent computer and Microsoft Office Software skills
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal as well as effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (domestic and international)


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing EPC projects specifically in the industrial gas and chemical sectors
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
