This is a full time (40 h/week) paid internship that will begin mid May, 2022 and conclude on August 5, 2022.

Job Summary and Scope:

As a Transportation Freight Broker Intern, your primary job will be to efficiently help manage third-party shipments and help obtain the lowest cost and highest performing carriers. In this position, you will also partner with 3PL customers and Veritiv vendors to build relationships and help them manage their transportation needs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day interaction with Veritiv Logistics Solutions (VLS) customers
• Responsible for assisting in the selection of truckload and other third-party carriers
• Help with the coordination of carrier RFQs and selection process for inbound, outbound, and VLS programs
• Contribute to the team's accountability for meeting posted load objectives for Veritiv and 3PL loads
• Seamlessly manage the load tendering process for inbound, outbound, and brokerage freight transactions
• Communicate effectively with carriers, Veritiv customers, corporate logistics group, warehouse personnel, and customer service team members
• Provide tracking updates to customers when necessary
• Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain
• Assist in creating supply truckload quotes for all internal and external customers
• Ability to travel to meet with VLS customers and carriers if needed

Qualifications/Knowledge & Experience:

• A rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in logistics, supply chain, business or other related field
• Industry knowledge of current LTL and Full Truckload market
• Must be able to handle multiple projects and effectively prioritize workload
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Must have good written, listening and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels of the organization
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Highly motivated with a competitive attitude
