Job Description:

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for aTraining Specialistto join our Member Services team. The Training Specialist is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of insurance regulation-related training content. This role is part of the mission-critical team that curates and administers program content to adult learners.

This position is based in our Kansas City, Missouri office. This position is full- time, working a hybrid schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement training materials and programs on topics such as NAIC-specialized software, insurance regulation standards, and operational practices.

  • Perform training needs analyses, including skill gap, task, and audience analyses.

  • Cultivate an engaging and modernized learning environment for state insurance regulators and related parties.

  • Collaborate and consult with various subject matter experts and team members. Coordinate and lead development meetings to define and document learning objectives and build course content.

  • Create instructional materials such as instructor-led courses, eLearning modules, leader guides, learner workbooks, job aids, assessments, and training videos.

  • Coordinate and deliver in-person, virtual, and pre-recorded training sessions.

  • Prepare course evaluation reports and maintain comprehensive and accurate records.

  • Apply success metrics to evaluate course effectiveness, and redesign content as needed.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts into applied use cases.

  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as reports, procedural manuals, policies, instructions, and business correspondence/memos.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Growth mindset with ability to learn and be flexible in a changing work environment.

  • Ability to solve problems with minimal supervision and balance multiple projects while working constructively in a team environment.

  • Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Proficiency with course authoring software and other tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Rise and Storyline, Camtasia, learning management systems, and learning content management systems.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in instructional design, adult learning theory, education/training, or similar field required. At least four years' experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and training delivery for adult learners utilizing ADDIE and Agile design models required.

Preferred Experience & Education

  • Professional training certification such as the APTD, CPTD, Langevin Diploma, or similar is preferred.

Compensation

Starting at $62, 408 up to $80,000, to be commensurate with experience and education.

Travel Requirements

This position may require occasional out-of-state, overnight travel in support of member meetings and events throughout the year.
