Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

  • Experience developing, facilitating, and delivering staff development and training activities.
  • Ability to design and create training materials and presentations using PowerPoint and/or other authoring tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with instruction, including public-speaking ability.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and track project work in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and learning theories.
  • Experience with DISC assessment and/or similar behavioral assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Experience developing and managing mentoring programs.
  • Supervisory experience.
Job Description:

The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, managing, and implementing professional development and staff training programs for University Libraries. The position will provide guidance and support for supervisors by developing and delivering professional development solutions to enhance staff performance. This role will also collaborate with library leadership to foster a culture of innovative and inclusive research and scholarship.

Job Duties:

  • Designs, develops and evaluates instructional training materials including workshop manuals, job aids, handouts, on-line tutorials, self-paced learning modules, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with University Libraries colleagues to identify training needs for employees.
  • Deliver training and development solutions to enhance the performance of staff.
  • Develop and coordinate mentoring program for University Libraries.
  • Collect and report statistical data for professional development and training programs.
  • Creates training programs to address gaps and needs for University Libraries staff and students.
  • Partners with outside training resources to schedule necessary training.
  • Works with management and Human Resources to review and design new staff and onboarding training. Assists in providing follow-up training and assessment as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a System Project Staff (SPS) position, which is a non-permanent benefits eligible position for one year and is subject to renewal.
