Traffic Project Designer

What We're Looking For: 

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Traffic ProjectDesigner in the Transportation business unit in Nashville, TN. This positionworks on a variety of design projects and traffic studies. The studies include,Traffic impact studies, corridor analysis and safety analysis studies.Candidate should also be able to help with traffic design project such as ITS/Signaldesign providing experienced support to Project Managers, Engineers, andothers.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Microstation engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents for traffic and transportation projects
  • Performs various assignments developing plans and documents from outlines of objectives, requirements, and design approaches
  • Obtains project information and ensures drawings are accurate and complete
  • Plans presentations of complex items with design features that may differ from established standards.
  • Provides seasoned recommendations for solutions to design problems
  • Perform traffic Studies such as Traffic impact studies, corridor analysis and safety analysis studies. 
  • Preform reviews of studies for accuracy and clarity. 
  • Communicates with clients pertaining to specific projects and attends client meetings
  • Reviews and critiques drawings and provides a quality check on others work
  • Mentors less experienced designers offering advice and knowledge to support other projects
  • Prepares quantity estimates
  • May act as project specific lead for design work of others

 Education & Experience Qualifications: 

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, or equivalent, or other relevant combination of education and/or experience
  • 10+ years transportation or traffic design experience
  • Experience/ familiarity with CADD, Synchro, HCM software, be familiar with AGi32 lighting software. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
    Experience providing coordination between government agencies
  • Understanding and familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards (Georgia DOT, Alabama DOT and Tennessee DOT)
