Summary of Duties

The Data Analyst is a grant funded position which reports to the Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness Planning (IEP) in collaboration with the Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs (VPEMSA). The Data Analysist will support Title III initiatives through the collection, tracking, analysis, evaluation and visualization of data for decision-making and reporting grant project goals. The Data Analyst will work as part of the Rhodes State College Institutional Research (IR) team to develop and maintain data dashboards/visualizations, assist with data requests related to federal reporting requirements (as needed), and create other data-informed materials which augment the availability, accessibility, use of resources.

Duties & Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities includes, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a member of the Title III Grant core team, including attending regular meetings and providing data for grant activities;
  • Develop, maintain, and interpret internal and external data dashboards and other data visualizations related to project activities;
  • Coordinate the gathering and analysis of data for the purposes of grant reporting and compliance;
  • Update, verify, and manage data from multiple databases;
  • Create and launch professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to request, interpret, and utilize institutional data;
  • Create reports related to Title III that summarize data using clear and concise charts and tables;
  • Maintain a secure data environment, and ensure confidentiality of information secured and controlled by Institutional Research;
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Experience, Skills & Abilities

    Required:

  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.
  • Experience in writing functional specifications and documentation with strong knowledge of Microsoft products and data visualizations software.
  • Responsive to data needs and have the ability to effectively organize projects.
  • Detail oriented, with a focus on quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Applicant must be self-motivated, collaborative, and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data for reporting and decision-making, survey design and analysis of results.

  • Preferred:
    • Use of MS SQL Management Studio.
    • Working knowledge of relational database technology, data mining, and higher education administrative systems; experience with Ellucian Banner and Tableau a plus.
    • Experience in higher education, with the National Student Clearinghouse, use of StudentTracker and reporting to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
    Education & Certifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, social sciences, or related field.
