SUMMARY

Test Engineering Technicians work from drawings, written and oral instructions, or defined plans to execute prototype builds and product testing. Assignments include testing and verification of product function, documentation of test methods, and training of personnel in proper operation of equipment and fixtures for new products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, harnesses, instruments
* Reads and understands technical drawings, procedures, and industry standards
* Performs test process verifications
* Perform verifications on test equipment and routine maintenance
* Trains manufacturing associates on performing tests
* Provides leadership, training, and mentoring of lower-level Test Eng. Technicians
* Participates in closed loop corrective action teams
* Assists with implementing corrective actions resulting from root cause analysis.
* Operates programmable quality control equipment
* Assist in product design, development, and production
* Ensures proper test-related documentation is completed, verified, and approved
* Prepare written reports and makes recommendations for procedural changes
* Ensures quality of all incoming & outgoing projects
* Assist in new apparatus or fixture designing for testing in a manufacturing environment
* Utilizes knowledge of electrical (digital/analog), & RF theory for testing products
* Design custom test fixturing for product needs
* Contributes to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner.
* Maintains clean, organized work environment and adheres to all safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
* Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Test Engineer Tech I: 1-4 years of experience. Entry Level: Vocational, High School diploma, or general education degree (GED); Minimum of 1-year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; trade school certificate preferred. Considered a developing professional within the field.

Test Engineer Tech II: 4-8 years of experience. Vocational, High School diploma, or general education degree (GED); or minimum of 4 years related experience. Considered a seasoned professional that needs little direction or guidance.

Test Engineer Tech III: 9+ years of experience. Educational and experience requirements per Level II, with a minimum of 9+ years of experience. Considered an industry expert within the field with little to no guidance needed.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

* Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

JOB SKILLS

* Basic electrical (digital/analog) & RF theory knowledge.
* Basic automation scripting. (C, Java, Batch & Lua).
* Knowledge and ability to comprehend engineering drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
* Ability to use precision measuring devices.
* Solid documentation, organization and record keeping.
* Ability to prioritize and organize tasks daily to meet deadlines.
* Ability to train and ensure quality processes will meet the customer's requirements.
* Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
* Knowledgeable of manufacturing processes and procedures.
* Proficient in MS Office.
* Ability to prioritize and handle multiple deadlines under pressure.
* Ensures quality of all incoming & outgoing projects.
* Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies is a clean facility, housing different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

* ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
* Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses in specific areas
* Hearing protection, in specific locations
* Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas
