Summary of Duties:

The Department of Management, Information Systems and Entrepreneurship in the Carson College of Business at Washington State University is seeking qualified candidates for one permanent tenure-track faculty position in Management Information Systems (MIS), based at our Pullman campus. We will consider candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position is subject to budget approval.

WSU is committed to achieving a diverse, equitable, and inclusive university community by embracing each person's unique contributions, background, and perspectives. The University recognizes that fostering an inclusive environment for all, with particular attention to the needs of historically marginalized populations, is vital to the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of our institutional mission. This enhances the experience for all students, faculty, and staff, and for the communities that we engage. As such, we welcome candidates whose research, teaching, and/or service has prepared them to be an integral contributor to advancement of our inclusive and diverse communities.

The successful candidate will be required to teach four (4) MIS courses per year (typically two per semester), conduct high quality academic research, and make rank-appropriate service contributions to the Department, College, University, and community. The candidate will be expected to participate actively in the MIS Ph.D. program.

Term, Compensation and Support:

The term of appointment is a nine-month academic year, beginning on August 16, 2023. Rank is at the assistant professor level. Competitive salary and benefits with excellent retirement programs. Summer support is provided.

Department of Management, Information Systems, and Entrepreneurship (MISE):

The MISE Department provides an exceptional work environment with highly supportive colleagues actively engaged in quality research, teaching, and service. Information Systems is a core strength of the department and is a top priority at the Carson College of Business and Washington State University. The MISE Department includes 34 faculty (across 4 campuses) with substantial plans to grow the department and its core strength in information systems.

Carson College of Business:

The Carson College of Business (CCB) enrolls more than 2,500 undergraduate students and 1,200 online MBA and Executive MBA students combined. The Online MBA program is currently ranked 12th by Poets and Quants and 18th by U.S. News and World Report. The college has 92 full-time faculty across its campuses and 75 staff. WSU has a set goal to advance the college's commitment to diversity and multiculturalism with respect to research, teaching and community outreach, incorporating relevant programs, goals, and activities. A strong global perspective is encouraged. To promote global awareness and capability for our students, the college also offers faculty-led study abroad programs in Belize, China, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Romania & Croatia, Spain Switzerland, and Thailand. In addition, CCB has invested in a state-of-the-art Center for Behavioral Business Research (CBBR), which opened in early 2010.

Unlike most multi-campus systems, WSU operates as an integrated university; thus, regardless of campus location, all MISE faculty are full members of the MISE department. The business curricula at all five campuses are accredited as one curriculum by the AACSB (AACSB accreditation was renewed for five years in 2019).

WSU is a premier research institution, ranked as a "very high research activity" (R1) by the Carnegie Foundation, with ambitions to grow. The university is currently pursuing its goal of becoming one of the nation's top 25 public research universities by 2030 through its "Drive to 25" or "D25" initiative. D25 is the University's highest strategic priority.
