Position Title: Telecommunications Technician - Senior

Work Location: Hill Air Force Base, UT

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • The Telecommunications Technician shall provide services that enable Giant Voice operations and Giant Voice infrastructure capabilities. Networks as defined in this section are for Data, Voice, and Video
  • The Telecommunications Technician shall possess and maintain a current proficiency in Whelen Mass Notification System and two years of experience supporting Whelen Mass Notification System
  • The Telecommunications Technician shall perform PMIs to include but not limited to: Whelen System Activation and Monitoring computer evaluations, amplifier/driver fault testing, battery/acid spill inspections, visual siren station physical inspections, siren cabinet and component inspections, speaker assembly and pole top equipment inspections, station performance testing, and corrosion evaluation on all Giant Voice stacks every 90 days in accordance with the Government-provided PMI checklist
  • The Telecommunications Technician will perform Silent Tests on all Giant Voice stacks every 30 days
  • The Telecommunications Technician shall enter all required device data, PMI completion and Silent Test completion in the approved AIS (currently IMDS and BMC Remedy) to establish/track appropriate PMIs
  • The Telecommunications Technician shall complete 100% of all required equipment and infrastructure PMIs and documentation by the scheduled due date.
  • The Telecommunications Technician shall work with Government technicians to provide Giant Voice support as part of a team of technicians.
  • The Telecommunications Technician shall, but is not limited to:
    • Set up, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and support the Giant Voice infrastructure
    • Support enterprise Change Management to implement Giant Voice changes and maintain configuration control
  • Install, test, configure, monitor, and maintain: speakers, amplifiers, batteries, fuses, solar panels, microphones, intrusion alarms, Dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) land line control, radio and control panels.
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements
Qualifications/Certifications/Education:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.   • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience (relevant experience - field preferred - and education may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Must have 7+ years of demonstrated/practical hands-on experience
  • Must possess and maintain a IT level II certification and an IAT II certification IAW DoD 8570.01 - certifications: Security+ or GSEC or SCNP or SSCP. CCNA or CCNP
  • Must possess and maintain a current proficiency in Whelen Mass Notification Systems and two years of experience supporting Whelen Mass Notification Systems
  • Must be a US citizen

  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision
  • Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature
  • Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to thirty (40) pounds as necessary. The Telecommunications Technician will be required to climb a ladder up to 15 feet while carrying up to 25 lbs.

Security Clearance

Position may require a DoD security clearance.
