Description: Our client is currently seeking a Telecommunications Administrator, who will be responsible for maintaining and administering the various phone systems across all locations. Primary responsibilities include all design, maintenance and support activities associated with the phone systems including moves/adds/changes, hardware and software support and troubleshooting to ensure minimal downtime for the phone system and all related systems.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manages and administers the entire telecommunications infrastructure and its associated devices, including MS Teams voice/video endpoints, IP telephony services, call management systems, voice mail, interactive voice response, and audio/video conferencing systems.
  • Designs and participates in telecommunications projects with a goal of replacing, improving, or expanding the current infrastructure with MS Teams based solutions.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and training plans for telecommunication systems administration and appropriate use.
  • Works with end users to establish service level agreements based on user requirements.
  • Assesses the need for any system reconfigurations, makes recommendations, and executes them as required.
  • Conducts research on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of telecommunications equipment procurement and development efforts.
  • Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure communications products and services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Administers add, move, and change requests from end users as well as new line installations as required.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots issues for telecommunications traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telecommunications systems and desired quality of service.
  • Generates telecommunications usage and inventory reports as required.
  • Conducts testing and development of disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and backup systems.
  • Creates and maintains call flows.
  • Performs system and devices upgrades as necessary.
  • Interacts with technical staff to ensure the safe and proper installation of cabling, wiring, and other electrical hardware.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Math or related field
  • 7+ years' experience in Information Technology with at least 5 years' experience in IP telephony
  • Strong understanding of IP and PBX based phone systems.
  • Proficient in, but not limited to Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, and Vonage. PBX experience in ShoreTel/Mitel, Avaya, Nortel is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Experience with networking in an enterprise environment, including Cisco based switching, routing, SD-WAN, and firewalls.
  • Troubleshooting of IP connectivity issues related to device registration, voice/video quality, and endpoint integrations.
  • Highly motivated and resourceful
