A talented and enthusiastic individual with experience in preclinical imaging research and strong organizational skills is sought. This position supports the Small Animal Imaging Laboratory (SAIL) in the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, which is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

The SAIL houses two Bruker MRI rodent imaging systems - a 7T and a 3T - for research and development of advanced preclinical imaging. The center also houses a satellite vivarium, an in-vivo optical imaging system, a micro-CT and a micro-PET/CT imaging system.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Functions as resource for all research study issues: oversees and coordinates all lab activities and schedules all procedures.
  • Independently performs experimental procedures and acquires micro-MR and micro-CT and optical imaging data for multiple research protocols.
  • Trains investigators on the use of micro-MRI, micro-CT and optical imaging scanners.
  • Prepares animals for imaging and performs simple surgical procedures.
  • Oversees the data collection process and manages the laboratory's network of raw and processed imaging data. Coordinates data transfers with collaborators. May perform data analysis using image analysis software.
  • Manages and maintains the infrastructure of the lab; orders laboratory supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Monitors safety procedures and collaborates with institutional veterinary staff to ensure compliance with hospital regulations.
  • General administrative duties such as billing and scheduling.
  • All other duties, as assigned.


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in science is required; MSc in an imaging related field is preferred.

Must have at least one-year experience in a directly related research setting.

Experience in MRI and basic image analysis is necessary.

Rodent handling experience is required. Experience with tail vein injections is an advantage.

Ability to do basic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment.

Experience with fluorescence imaging and molecular biological techniques is an advantage.

A high degree of computer literacy is required.
