GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division is seeking a motivated individual to work with a Principal Investigator collecting research data and analyzing CT scans which involves both visual and objective assessments of body structures. The posting involves working closely with Junior and Senior level physician-scientists and is a great opportunity for those in transition to or applying for graduate medical education, including medical school. This includes opportunities for mentorship and participation in writing up of research findings. The position is for at least one year, starting as soon as possible

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will collect and organize chest CT images from records of study subjects.
  • Will annotate and analyze CT images and derives images on workstations using a number of common as well as specific tools developed by our group.
  • Will create and maintain databases/files for research studies with imaging data; this will require working with non-imaging data as well.
  • Will search study subjects' medical records using in-house (or other) search tools and organize the data collected.
  • Will assist in creating a data management plan for various projects.
  • Will search and review literature on various topics.
  • Will help in writing research reports


  • Qualifications
    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Interested in research.
  • Lab experience desirable but not required.
  • Flexibility in learning different software platforms
  • Willingness to commit to at least a one-year position.
  • Willingness to work on making imaging measurements, which can require focus and patience.

  • SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Reliable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Self-directed learning and ability to work independently.
  • Analytic ability to resolve minor technical equipment problems and interpret acceptability of data results.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with other colleagues.
