Job Description
Establish system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems. Design architecture to include the data model, software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. Ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the OSI and ISO reference models, and profiles of standards - such as IEEE OSE reference model. Apply appropriate architecture framework (DoDAF, FEA, DHS EA, UAF) to ensure that the architecture is defined and documented in compliance with the Agency enterprise architecture and applicable reference models. Create comprehensive architectural models to capture all relevant features and behaviors of the agency’s systems and their components. Evaluate analytically and systematically problems of workflows, organization, and planning and develop appropriate corrective action.
Assess business objectives, conduct gap analysis of existing versus needed capability, and identify business requirements. Evaluate business requirements to identify potential technologies that can be employed to meet business objectives. Develop technical solutions to meet business needs and support analysis of alternatives for best fit. Evaluate technical trends and provide recommendations for technology and architecture to meet business objectives. Perform research on emerging technologies to support proof-of-concept (POC) capabilities and identify future solutions for the organization.
The candidate should have the following skills:
* Experience modeling architecture or designing solutions for cloud-based systems
* Experience in architectural frameworks
* Experience in architectural and data modeling
* Experience in using Cameo MagicDraw or similar architectural modeling tool
* Experience in JSON/XML schema definition and definition of web services
* Experience in programming
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Required Education & Experience
* Bachelor’s Degree or higher and 5+ years of related experience
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate working knowledge with several of the following concepts or technologies:
* AWS cloud architecture
* Development of Software-oriented Architecture (SOA) systems and development tools supporting large databases; Java, C++, Cloud Architectures and Virtualization
* Entity-Relationship, DODAF and UML modeling
* SOAP and WSDL technologies
* XML and XSD schemas and XSLT transforms
* National Information Exchange Model (NIEM), EBTS, and IXM
* Biometric matching systems
Certification Requirements
* Relevant commercial certifications desired
Clearance Requirements
* Candidate must be a US Citizen, possess DHS Suitability background investigation or be eligible to qualify for DHS Entry of Duty background investigation followed by DHS Public Trust Clearance
