(Contingent upon available funding): 51,000.00 - 69,300.00, Salary Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm, 40 hours minimum Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The System Analyst will assist the HPCC (High Performance Computing Center) team in daily operation and maintenance of HPCC systems, troubleshoot networks and storage, review logs, compile applications on Linux servers, work with vendors to resolve complex system problems, and/or provide user support. The OSU HPCC is an extremely fast-paced environment; therefore, the candidate must demonstrate strong willingness to learn new technologies and take directions. This position requires the ability to endure sitting and/or standing for long periods at a time and occasionally lifting 50+ lbs. The HPCC environment consists of about 250 bare-metal systems (including Ceph, lnet routers, DTN, and infrastructure nodes), dozens of layer 2/3 switches, more than 5 petabyte of storage devices (DDN/lustre and Ceph), environmental infrastructure, complex software configurations, and more than 2,000 end user accounts. In the coming year, the infrastructure is expected to double in size, as a new high-end cluster (with GPUs) will be deployed to serve users in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas region.The incumbent will be expected to work safely via Linux command line to analyze the system, provide day-to-day operations tasks, deploy new features, assist with system maintenances, and evaluate new tools for increasing system performance (50%). Additional duties will be determined by the incumbent's best strengths. HPC is an extremely fast-paced environment; therefore, the incumbent must demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new technologies and take directions from superiors (30%). The incumbent will be expected to develop a professional working relationship with a highly diverse research community, such as undergrads, graduate students, staff, faculty and affiliates, from all domains of science (20%). Additional duties as assigned.Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain cellular or other electronic communication. After-hours maintenance and critical support may be required. Additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with three years of experience working with Linux based systems, with at least 1-year experience in system and network administration.

  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • Experienced working with team members from diverse experience and backgrounds.
  • Experienced in providing documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years of administration experience with Linux, networking, storage area networks (SAN), security, scripting/programming, Linux-based software installations, and/or advanced troubleshooting.

Familiarity (1 year of experience) with cluster management software (Bright Cluster Manager, ClusterVisor, Grid Engine), schedulers (Slurm, PBS), and Linux software management solutions (Spack, Easybuild) and GPUs.

Working knowledge of web servers and content management solutions. Familiarity with software container systems (such as Apptainer, Docker, Kubernetes). Vendor-neutral certifications in Linux, networking, security, and/or programming languages. Such as CompTIA, RHCE/RHCSA, CISSP.
