ECS is seeking a System Security Engineer/Architect to work in our Washington, DC office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Description:
The role will provide guidance in the implementation of system specific features and security controls to ensure a healthy security posture and effective compliance with federal requirements. Provide guidance and recommendation to implement cyber security best practices to large enterprise systems and environments

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assess how new requirements impacts the security posture of the FSM Enterprise currently deployed in AWS and provides solutions to a variety of complex technical problems
  • Provides subject matter expertise in creation, editing, and management of signatures, rules, filters, and custom content for cybersecurity systems including but not limited to network and host-based IDS, IPS, firewall, web application firewall, cloud security, proxy and SIEM systems
  • Perform engineering recommendation of cybersecurity applications and systems to be able to design and articulate requirements to support the architecture team in extending the DHS cybersecurity requirements into the FSM Architecture and Enterprise
  • Enforce policies and guidelines as outlined within NIST SP 800-53, DHS 4300A, DHS 4300B Sensitive Systems Policy
  • Provide guidance in the implementation of system specific features and security controls to ensure effective compliance with federal requirements
  • Promote a healthy security posture for the implementation team and key stakeholders
  • Identifies potential conflicts with implementation of any cybersecurity tools within the FSM enterprise/systems and develops recommendations to remediate these conflicts
  • Evaluates new cybersecurity applications or tools, rules/signatures, access controls, and configurations of cybersecurity platforms or applications for implementation onto the FM system
  • Provide IT security consultation to system owners on security incident reports, equipment/software inventories, technical vulnerability reports, and contingency plans
  • Perform the necessary review, analysis, and reporting of key system attributes, weaknesses, and changes to the Information Systems Security Manager, System Owner, and Department Risk Management body to support the Continuous Monitoring of supported systems
  • Support ISSMs in initiating, tracking, and managing the creation, opening, and closure of weaknesses via Department prescribed Plan of Action & Milestone (POAM) processes and procedures
  • Supports Assessment and Authorization activities related to cybersecurity technologies and contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific FSM projects.
  • Effectively communicate the risk and security posture to the Information Systems Security Manager, System Owner, Key Stakeholders, and consumers of security controls within your purview

Required Skills:
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related field with 7 years of experience
    • or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related field with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Experience shall be in a related security technology or discipline such as Identity and Access Management, Cybersecurity Operations, Cybersecurity Engineering, IT Security Audit, and Information Assurance
  • Demonstrate Technical Experience:
  • Ability to provide end-to-end systems engineering to include designing and implementing security solutions to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of network capacity
  • Experience with intrusion detection systems, secure socket layer (SSL) systems, and integration with SIEM (Splunk)
  • Expertise with cybersecurity architectural principles such as defense in depth, resilience, and integrated security operations.

Desired Skills:
  • CISSP Certification
  • Strong Communication Skills a plus
  • Cloud Architecture Experience
  • Federal Financial Experience
