Description:

Dartmouth invites applications for the Susan J. and Richard M. The selected candidate will be expected to lead an interdisciplinary effort with faculty and students/learners across the various schools, centers, and institutes at Dartmouth, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, the White River Junction VA Medical Center, and other partner health systems to accelerate the transformation of U.S. health care and healthcare systems.

Dartmouth seeks a candidate with an outstanding scholarly record of studying and solving the most difficult challenges facing health care. Candidates must have an MD, PhD, or equivalent, strong academic credentials, and extramural support, as well as a research portfolio that demonstrates national leadership in their field. Candidates should meet the expectations for an appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure in The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI) at the Geisel School of Medicine. Those whose research includes incubating and testing innovative models of care, measuring and improving system and provider performance, engaging patients throughout the spectrum of care, translating knowledge into better outcomes, implementing learning health systems, and advancing health equity are strongly encouraged to apply. As an institute that is firmly anchored in interdisciplinary research, we seek candidates who have experience in working with and mobilizing colleagues across disciplines. The selected candidate will have a primary academic appointment at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, with the potential for secondary appointments in other Geisel Departments, adjunct appointments in Arts & Sciences, and/or other leading professional schools (Thayer School of Engineering and Tuck School of Business), and affiliations with other Dartmouth Institutes or Centers.

The Dartmouth Institute of Health Policy and Clinical Practice is one of three AHRQ National Centers of Excellence to study health care delivery in the U.S. Faculty in TDI are leaders in the study of health care systems and improvement of clinical practice with impact spanning three decades. Dartmouth consistently ranks among the country's leading academic institutions. Home to a celebrated liberal arts curriculum and pioneering professional schools, Dartmouth has forged a singular identity, combining its deep commitment to outstanding undergraduate liberal arts and graduate education with distinguished research and scholarship.

Dartmouth is highly committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive population of students, faculty, and staff. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds, including but not limited to: racial and ethnic minorities, women, individuals who identify with LGBTQ+ communities, veterans, individuals with disabilities, individuals from lower-income backgrounds, and/or first-generation college graduates.

Dartmouth is surrounded by a vibrant, academic, and professional community offering excellent public schools, a lively arts scene, a rural setting with great natural beauty, and delicious local produce and artisanal foods.
