Job Overview

The shipping/receiving supervisor monitors the receiving, storage and distribution of items ensuring a smooth and consistent operation, so parts and supplies are located and distributed in an effective and efficient manner to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and Direct shipping/receiving team. (Receiving clerk, shipping clerk)
  • Manages movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Communicates to the manager of the bakeries inventory based on finished good demands.
  • Responsible for meeting their KPI's.
  • Manages incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Reviews shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods to meet shipping schedules.
  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency by:
  • Manages handling, shipping, and customer delivery activities from the bakeries' shipping dock, directing third party over-the-road truck drivers.
  • Allocating and recording resources and movements systematically
  • Manages movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • May assist workers in shipping and receiving activities.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
  • In case of absence of the shipping and receiving manager, assistant managers will be responsible for assuming responsibility for food safety practices and enforcement of the department.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
  • Understands and complies with all safety procedures that apply to daily operations.
  • Work safely; follow proper lock out/tag out procedure where applicable.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment by adhering to safety policy and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) procedures.
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, coworkers, etc.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation.
  • May perform other duties not listed.

Tools and Equipment. All tools and equipment which are required to be used by the employees shall be supplied and kept in repair by the Employer at no cost to the employee. These items must be kept on the premises.

Minimum Requirements
  • 3+ years of shipping & receiving experience with dated and perishable products.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Ability to work night shift:

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) Certified, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Previous safety training preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Experience with multiple SKUs per shipment preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
