JOB OVERVIEW

The Production Supervisor takes responsibility for supervising the entire facility at night; the Night Supervisor will either make decisions on their own or have the judgment to call the appropriate support personnel if needed. In addition to supervising the facility, the Supervisor works hand-in-hand with the Production Manager, Inventory Control Specialist, Maintenance and the broader team, as appropriate, to keep the departments running efficiently. This position requires organizational and detail skills, a problem-solving approach, and a firm grasp of the production process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all operations at the facility, ensuring that all production goals are being met.
  • Manage operations to maximize the capacity and decrease down-time.
  • Continually monitor procedures to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are being followed.
  • Serve as the primary Safety Contact for the night shift. Ensure a safe working environment by conducting regular safety inspections, addressing potential hazards, and promoting a safety-first mindset among employees.
  • Continually monitor procedures to ensure that all safety procedures are followed and look for new hazards as operations change or temporary measures are taken with equipment. Report any safety issues to the Safety Coordinator or Production Manager.
  • Coordinate with Quality to ensure that all sanitation and follow-up activities are performed correctly.
  • Proactively identify and resolve production-related issues, escalating them to the appropriate departments when necessary.
  • Continually monitor that all HAACP and GMP's are being followed. Report any quality issues the Quality personnel or Production Manager.
  • Report any maintenance issues either to the Night Maintenance Tech or to the Maintenance Manager and assist on coordinating maintenance and repair activities.
  • Work to ensure that all production related paperwork is being filled out correctly. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including production reports, incident reports, and employee records.
  • Lead and conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, address concerns, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate training programs to enhance employees' skills and knowledge.
  • Implement and enforce employee performance and behavior standards to maintain a high level of professionalism and adherence to company policies, values, and expectations.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the shift employees.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including approving vacation time and filling out transaction forms.
    • Assist in Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

JOB EXPERIENCE:

2+ years of lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing preferred

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Bi-lingual preferred but not mandatory (English and Spanish).
  • Must have manufacturing experience, food manufacturing a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Must be a problem-solver who uses good judgement and continuous improvement principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 4-year degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Standing, walking, using hands and arms to feel and reach.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs and ramps.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Regularly or routinely lifting or handling boxes/bags/equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Routinely bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Regularly pushing or pulling sizeable equipment from a standing position.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of personal protective equipment including respirators, hearing protection, eye protection, and head protection.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Must be able to work in a dusty, cold, hot, humid, wet, loud, or outdoor work environment depending on the assigned work area.
  • Primarily works in a production environment with minimal administrative duties.
