What you'll do...
People Development: Builds and leads a team to execute on business area or category objectives. Coaches team members and provide feedback to enhance skills, knowledge and work performance. Have performance and career development conversations. Maintains team motivation and engagement. Mentors Associate Strategy and Business Development Managers.
Strategic Initiatives: Identifies and capitalizes on improvement opportunities for moderately-to-highly complex categories or business areas. Manages and champions business improvement initiatives for a moderately-to-highly complex category or business area. Provides input into short-and long term strategic plan for the category or business area.
Business Development and Partnerships: Provides input into B2B marketing strategy and prospect, partner and vendor communications for a moderately-to-highly complex category or business area. Executes B2B marketing strategy for a moderately-to-highly complex category or business area. Identifies cross-category business development opportunities (i.e. non-retailers/brands) and manages outreach/marketing/ engagement efforts.
Marketplace Policies/Standards: Anticipates future needs and identifies gaps in processes and tools to improve business development and vendor management for a moderately-to-highly complex business area or category. Works with cross-functional teams (e.g., Retail Analytics and Product Development) to develop new tools or make changes based on team, category, vendor and partner needs. Recommends and implements refinements to marketplace policy.
Research and Analysis: Develops complex analytical frameworks/models for assessing business development and outcomes of strategic initiatives (e.g., impact on ROI/customer growth, conversion rates, profitability). Recommends key analysis and metrics for moderately-to-highly complex categories or business areas. Reviews research and analysis performed by specialists for moderately-to-highly complex categories or business areas.
Collaboration: Collaborates with other managers and cross-functional team members across Categories, Pricing, Product Development, Planning, etc. for a moderately-to-highly complex category or business area. Collaborates with external business partners and vendors.
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.
Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
