Stormwater Project Manager
The Water Environment Group at GBA is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer (8+years) to lead the Stormwater efforts in the Austin, TX office. GBA•s Stormwater Team works with various public and private entities including internal departments to develop the appropriate conveyance systems and/or storage facilities to alleviate flooding and/or decrease pollution associated with Stormwater runoff. Our expertise ranges from planning and assessments to analysis, design, permitting, bidding and construction phase services. Our wide range of projects include Water Quality Study and Design, such as detention and retention ponds, Stormwater Master Planning, Stream and Riverine Site Evaluation, including structure sizing, design, and scour protention needs, Storm Sewer Study and Design, as well as Municipal Stormwater Review.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the collection of data in the field including but not limited to streams/open channel systems, enclosed (conduit and structures) storm and sanitary sewer systems
- Work with various software packages to produce figures, exhibits, and/or drawings
- Review existing reports and studies for information related to studies and design projects
- Prepare written studies and project design technical reports
- Prepare calculations, designs and specifications
- Create and update hydrologic and hydraulic computer models such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS XP-SWMM, and associated software packages
- Oversight of construction observation activities
- Other duties as assigned
- BS in Civil and/or Biosystems Engineering or closely related engineering degree
- 8+ years of experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer desired, or current progress toward licensure in the State of Texas
- Possess effective communication skills both written and oral
- Must be able to work effectively both on a team and individually
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel & GIS Mapping software is a plus
- Experience with some of the following: assessment, analysis, planning, design: related to stormwater system including water quality components, storm drainage systems, dams, roadway culverts and ditches and riverine hydraulic modeling for structure sizing, floodplain modeling, scour evaluation and sediment transport
- Detail oriented and dedicated to quality work
- Candidate must be adept at working on fast-paced projects
- Current driver•s license for use of Company vehicle for travel or site related assignments
- Experience in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HY-8, and PCSWMM a plus
- Some occasional local day travel will be required
- Some overnight travel may be necessary for this position
