The Staff VP of business and segment architecture works with senior and executive leaders across the business segments of Elevance Health and the Elevance Health Tech organizations, leading a team of business architects to support business strategy alignment with the Elevance Health multi-year technology roadmap. By engaging technology and business architecture experts, this role enables the effective leverage of technologies in supporting the enterprise and divisional business strategies and outcomes and effective utilization of technology investments.

To be successful, this role requires extensive knowledge and experience with the US healthcare payor and emerging whole health business practices and how they support the overall US healthcare ecosystem. This senior leader within the Global EA organization will also be accountable for divisional architecture of the commercial lines of business and health solutions shared services organizations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Accountable for building and managing a highly effective business architecture team focused on enabling successful business outcomes through continued alignment of technology roadmap/s, technology strategy, and business short- and longer-term objectives.
  • Accountable for the development and maintenance of the Elevance Health enterprise business capability and value stream models.
  • Assess current maturity of the business capability and value streams establish vision and roadmap across Enterprise Elevance Health business segments of government, commercial, and Carelon.
  • Apply the principles of capability-based planning towards effective build and execution of technology strategies and roadmaps.
  • Ensure EA coverage for the segments of commercial business and heath solutions functions and responsible for integration with central EA practices of Business, Technology, Enterprise Solution arch and Technology governance.
  • Accountable for communicating value-based analyses to senior and executive leaders related to business and technology strategy alignments with multiyear roadmaps.
  • Ensure effective alignment of technology strategies with short- and long-term business strategies.
  • Establish effective partnerships with executives and key business partners to drive changes needed for business model evolution and transformations with effective leverage of technology.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide insight into technology investments required to achieve desired business objectives and outcomes as part of business strategic planning.
  • Partner with enterprise portfolio teams in planning and supporting initiatives relying on technology changes for successful delivery.
  • Partner with enterprise and divisional strategy teams to maintain alignment and transparency of business strategy and measured outcomes with strategic technology roadmap.
  • Provide business architecture support for acquisition planning, due diligence, and long-term strategic roadmap alignment.
  • Develop, communicate, and exceed business architecture objectives and key results aligned with business and technology outcomes.
  • Mentor and educate partners and team members on business architecture principles, operating model, and desired value-based outcomes.
  • Ensure integration of capabilities and technology evaluation with M&A opportunities towards the foundation for future business opportunities and models
  • Develop and adhere to annual budgets and staffing plans.
  • Adapt and remain effective in a dynamic and changing environment.
Candidates Requirements
  • 10+ years as a Business and or Enterprise Architecture experience in the US Healthcare Payor space.
  • 10+ years business process, data, and technology leadership experience.
  • 5+ years successfully leading a business architecture team.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior and executive leaders, both business and technology.
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging technology to meet business objectives.
  • Results-oriented individual with a history of successfully influencing leaders through change cycles.
  • Graduate degree or equivalent experience.
