Staff Software Engineers for Western Union (Denver, CO) - Assess business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards. Interface and collaborate with other engineers in geographically distributed development centers. Design layered application, including user interface, business functionality, and database access. Apply Agile methodology daily and follow Definition of Done (DoD) process for better quality by maintaining 80% and unit test coverage and 70% integration test coverage. Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems throughout all phases of the software development process. Develop technical & domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges. Thorough code reviews. Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and roll out applications with cross-functional impacts. Share engineering support and release.

Requirements include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; and progressive, post-Bachelor's experience (5 years following Bachelor's, or 3 years with Master's) as a Software Engineer, Graduate Assistant or related software developer occupation, which must include some experience with: developing service orchestration layer with RESTful/SOAP services, message queues and Micro-services; developing secure services using OAuth2, Spring Security which are scalable to perform transactions across worldwide banking systems; prior experience in payments and financial services domain; object-oriented design and programming concepts, core Java concepts, multi-threading, MVC and design patterns; cloud technologies, AWS - EC2, S3, RDS, Dynamo DB, SNS, SQS, Elastic search, Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, Arora MySQL, Terraform, Docker Containerization, Redis, Nginx, Kubernetes. Experience migrating large-scale systems to public cloud providers such as AWS; Java/J2EE, XML, Web technologies, Web Services, Spring boot, Hibernate, HTTP, XML, JSON, Node JS, Tibco, Apache Kafka, RDBMS; NoSQL experience, PL/SQL; agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery) and performing code reviews; Splunk, Dynatrace, Unix Shell scripting, SOAP-UI, Postman and performance monitoring tools, including: VisualVM/Jprofiler, GitLab, and CQ5.

Referral Bonus - $1,000 (Subject to Employee Referral Policy). Eligible to internal employees only.

Annual base salary gross: $81,204 - $143,044. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the Western Union salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of Western Union's total compensation package for employees.
