Position Summary:

Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools. Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop cloud-based software systems (APIs and Websites) as part of a multi-disciplinary team that works with an Agile methodology and integrates design, development, testing, and quality control
  • Participate and drive gathering of technical requirements and document appropriately
  • Directly interface with customers, gaining an understanding of customer needs, providing support (both integration/onboarding and sustaining), and sharing customer feedback with the greater team
  • Select development approaches that can accommodate high uncertainty in requirements and changing needs
  • Drive and influence the technical architecture and design
  • Influence and evangelize platform capabilities and architecture with larger audience
  • Apply best practices for testing and deployment in an agile environment
  • Understand business processes and requirements from the business
  • Support quality assurance in diagnosing and resolving bugs
  • Participate in on-call rotation for applications

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of work experience with developing full stack applications, preferably in a cloud environment, like AWS, or GCP
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or Engineering from an accredited academic university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of modern security frameworks such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenId
  • Strong Programming skills - Kotlin, Java, NodeJS or Scala or other similar languages
  • Experience in building frontend and backend applications using modern frameworks and technologies
  • Familiarity using relevant, modern, software test tools and equipment
  • Experience in building cloud-based, container components, CI and CD Pipelines
  • Experience in, and comfortable with, being part of a team that builds components as part of a distributed environment
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, and possess time management skills to meet schedules and participate in Agile software development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with, or interest in, the software product develoment process for medical devices, particularly working in a design control environment
  • Bonus: Strong Programming skills - AngularJS or other modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Bonus: CI/CD experience, especially using cloud-based technologies such as Terraform, Helm, or Spinnaker
  • Bonus: Specific and relevant Google Cloud Platform experience

Travel Required:
  • Up to 25%

  • Possesses advanced knowledge of technical principles and theories. Recommends solutions in support of functional objectives tied to overall company objectives and strategies.

  • Demonstrates significant technical expertise, collaboration with others and independent thought. Anticipates potential complex problems requiring an in-depth evaluation. Demonstrates strategic thinking and commercial/industry understanding in functional projects.

Judgement

  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other colleagues.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience or Masters degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.

Workplace Type

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Flex. Based on the nature of your position you will be working onsite approximately 2-3 days per week from collaborative space and hoteling desks at our Dexcom sites. You will need to be located within commuting distance (typically 75 miles/120km) of your assigned Dexcom site.
