Job Summary
The Hunt Lab (Division of Experimental Medicine) seeks a highly motivated Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) to provide support with assays to study cellular and systemic immunological markers derived from peripheral blood and lymphoid tissues, in assessment of immune responses to HIV/SIV exposure. The SRA II will assist with performing tissue culture, aid in the isolation of mononuclear cells from blood and tissue, help to develop and perform in vitro assays and flow cytometry in support of ongoing projects, perform data analysis, and assist in the maintenance of the lab supplies.

Required Qualifications
*    BA/BS degree in a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
*    Good computer skills in Microsoft Office and data entry
*    Ability to perform basic calculations for preparation of solutions
*    Knowledge of the basic techniques and methods listed for the position
*    Basic data analysis skills
*    Experience with lymphocyte isolation techniques from blood and tissues
*    Experience using flow cytometers and analysis software
*    Experience with cell culture and immunologic assays, ELISAs, nucleic acid isolation and quantitative RT-PCR
*    Strong organizational and communication skills
*    Ability to work independently under general supervision as well as within a team

Note: Physical/health screening required.

 
Preferred Qualifications
*    3 - 5 years of previous experience in a laboratory
*    Experience working with non-human primate samples in a BSL2* or BSL3 environment
