Job Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop systems documentation, such as environment diagrams, installation/configuration documents and release notes.
  • Become a product owner of numerous systems.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Provide 2 nd and 3 rd level support.
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedule.
  • Be available for other engineers and coach them to resolution.
  • Lead and train all site technical resources as needed.
  • Demonstrates analytical and systematic approach to resolving complex problems and assignments.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • Support, install and update/patch workstation operating systems and applications.
  • Assist in implementing configuration management programs and policies.
  • Troubleshoot and debug problems found in the production and non-production environments.
  • Assist in managing the corporate production systems including but not limited to the following: Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Connectwise Automate, Ivanti Go, DNS services, spam filters, intrusion detection systems, Palo Alto VPN and firewalls and VMWare servers.
  • Implement, maintain, and harden cloud environments such as AWS, Office 365, and other cloud services including all corporate production cloud environments.
  • Maintain and manage IdP systems (iex: Okta, Ping)
  • Server hardware provisioning including configuration and deployment.
  • Data backup management, scheduling and reporting for data center system.
  • Work with other team members in Operations, QA, and Product Management to plan the deployment of existing or new software and systems.
  • Ensure cybersecurity best practices are followed to comply with recognized frameworks (NIST, CIS Critical Security Controls, OWASP, etc.).
  • Participate in the automation, administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review.
  • Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, debugging, and support for systems software/hardware, including implementation support for multiple infrastructure platforms.
  • Tunes platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved. Performs root cause analyses for service interruption recoveries. Creates preventative measures.
  • Identifies and tests processes for automation. Performs configuration prior to the quality assurance process. Conducts quality assurance reviews to ensure standards and best practices are followed.
  • Develops expert knowledge of industry best practices and uses that knowledge to provide technical support to project team members.
  • Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Management or specialized training/certification or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in systems engineering.
  • High degree of initiative, dependability and able to lead work with little supervision while being resilient to change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure or equivalent strongly preferred.
