The Sr. Staff Scientist is responsible for the design and development of real time PCR and RT-PCR IVD assays in an FDA-QSR and ISO13485 compliant organization.

This position is part of the Emerging and Growth Opportunities Business Unit and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Work collaboratively fostering professional, constructive relationships as part of a team while also working independently to produce data and meet challenging timelines and goals.
• Analyze experimental results and contribute to team decisions for the next steps to ensure successful outcomes.
• Work with microorganisms (Mycobacterium will be a plus) involved in infectious diseases. Familiarity with antibiotic/drug resistance in bacteria would be desirable.
• Perform rigorous analytical studies required to demonstrate technical feasibility of complex assays.
• You will set the tone for a collaborative environment that values equity of voice, inclusive behaviors and trusting teams.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Design, set up and execute complex experiments including data collection, summary and critical analysis to meet project, department and company objectives.
• Apply analytical problem-solving skills and strategies for the development of complex in vitro diagnostic real time PCR and RT-PCR tests for infectious diseases.
• Evaluate, test, and optimize real time PCR and melt assays on the GeneXpert platform based on design of experiments and design input requirements.
• Experience of working in teams for successful product launch and solid understanding of design control process (Technical Feasibility and Design & Development phases, phase gate exits).
• Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biology and Genetics) with 8+ years of relevant industrial experience OR Master's degree in related field with 6+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in related field with 3+ years of related work experience.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Regularly analyze large datasets, maintain detailed experimental records and present in regular technical meetings to take decisions on the next steps to help the project move forward.
• Working in a highly productive team environment as an effective team player, understanding priorities and work to provide support to the team to realize long and short-term goals.
• Developing and writing verification and validation SOPs and technical reports.
