The Sr Staff Accountant - NASCAR Media Group performs various accounting activities within the division's Finance department while adhering to corporate policies and procedures as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and analyses to enable timely preparation of monthly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Provide accurate and timely information/analysis to support requests by Corporate Accounting as well as external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures; recommend modifications to existing policies and procedures when appropriate.
  • Interact and collaborate with business managers to improve month end processes
  • Assist internal Finance team with month end variance analysis
  • Assist with billing processes and entering information into Workday
  • Ensure transactions are coded accurately and assist with necessary corrections and training
  • Preparation of analysis and resolution of issues through research and digging into the details
  • Ad hoc projects, as necessary
Must have strong organization skills and be detail oriented

Ability to be flexible and meet month end close deadlines

Less than 5% travel is expected.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient on company provided hardware and software with a strong working knowledge of Excel. Experience with Workday a plus.
