JOB OVERVIEW:
The Sanitation Senior Operator is responsible for safe, detailed cleaning of the manufacturing and processing equipment ensuring that it is properly cleaned and sanitized according to facility cleaning standards. The Sanitation Senior Operator leads a team to prepare, clean, sanitize, and assemble equipment following all plant SSOPs, GMPs and plant safety rules so that it is ready for processing.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to read, explain, and train to sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs).
2. Complete necessary documentation regarding production, safety, and quality.
3. Possess the knowledge and ability to safely work with various types of cleaning equipment and chemicals and perform to company standards.
4. Possess the knowledge and ability to work with and clean various types of production equipment to perform complex assembling, shutdown, and disassembling.
5. Perform and ensures the sanitation team's adherence to Lock Out/Tag Out duties as required.
6. Train others on sanitation and documentation procedures.
7. Operate production machines and equipment as needed.
8. Transport/handle material to storage area using powered equipment (Forklift Certified).
9. Perform duties in a safe and secure manner.
10. Demonstrate advanced knowledge in the area of sanitation and machine safety procedures.
11. Inspect production areas and equipment for compliance in quality, safety, GMP and sanitation standards.
12. Look for ways to improve the efficiency and efficacy of sanitation operations.
13. Sign and/or verify QA and non-QA sanitation paperwork.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. H.S. Diploma or GED.

PREFERRED SKILLS
1. Possess mechanical and technical knowledge of production equipment.
2. Understand Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation best practices.
3. Strong ability to make good judgments and decisions.
4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
5. Hands-on initiative, attention to detail, and a thorough way of working.
6. Organized and good written and verbal communication skills.
7. Willing and able to accept and apply instruction.
8. Ability to collaborate with others, but also work independently.
9. Process-oriented, inquisitive, hungry for wisdom, and a quick learner.
10. Diligent in leading and learning.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
1. Read, write and speak basic English or Spanish.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
1. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
2. Must be able to twist and turn carrying 30 lbs.
3. Must be able to work in refrigerated or frozen environments.
4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger dexterity, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
5. Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
6. Must be able to work at heights greater than 5 feet and operate an aerial lift.
7. Must have the ability to climb a ladder.
8. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
9. Must be able to detect, perceive and observe while performing jobs.

Work Conditions
The working conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the duties of this job.
1. Constantly exposed to moderately cold or hot temperatures; occasionally exposed to extreme cold, hot, humid, and wet conditions including handling frozen product.
2. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
3. Constantly exposed to moderate noise occasionally requiring hearing protection.
4. Occasionally required to wear breathing protection.
5. Constantly wear standard food manufacturing Personal Protective Equipment.
6. Constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
7. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
