Loyola Medicine, treating the whole person with compassion-to \"also treat the human spirit.\" The Marketing Department seeks an experienced Media Content Editor will write produce content for external and internal channels within Loyola Medicine.

**Position is partially remote and requires working at least three days on site at Loyola Medicine**
**Weekly media relations on-call duty on a rotating basis is required**
In this role, the Sr. Media Content Editor is responsible for writing and producing content for multiple channels including internal and external newsletters, video, web, digital and social media outlets to promote the Loyola Medicine brand, providers and facilities. Content is focused on promoting medical services, research and health care experts to consumers, referring audiences and members of the media.This skilled writer will have solid experience in crafting communications to fit multiple platforms. Experience in medical/hospital, science or pharma writing and working with media is required.She/he will work collaboratively to garner earned media and support a wide range of marketing communications.

Position Responsibilities

  • Internal Communications Content- Supports internal communications including writing for employee and physician newsletters, intranet, key announcements, speeches and talking points.Supports communication surrounding colleague events. Works to integrate messaging from across Loyola Medicine with the goal of supporting a unified brand. Must have the ability to anticipate needs for timely communications, remaining sensitive to issues affecting the workforce and managing messaging accordingly.
  • Media Relations Content - Identifies and develops consumer-focused news items including human interest stories and research for consumerand medical media, internal audiences and referring physicians.Develops communications plans which may include writing press materials, planning and coordinating news conferences, pitching stories, and using the full spectrum of digital vehicles to disseminate news.Will serve as the liaison between patients, physicians and staff and members of the media, always securing mandatory consent. Builds and maintains strong relationships with the local and national media. Identifies and obtains images to accompany news releases, digital media and internal communications.
  • Social Media Content - Writes original social media and website content, including copy writing and image selection under the direction of the content editor.
  • Reputation Management - Assists the director with strategy on crises/issues management and serves as team leader in Director's absence. Participates in disaster response planning and activities.
  • Special Projects -Supports system wide events and plays a role in ensuring activities run smoothly. Represents the department in system-wide initiatives serving as the communications advisor when needed.

Position Requirements

Minimum Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or English
  • Minimum 5 years' communications experience in health care, medical, science or pharma industries.
  • Weekly media relations on-call duty on a rotating basis is required.
  • Must demonstrate creativity, strong writing, editing, grammar and proofreading skills and provide well-crafted writing samples. Proficient in AP style.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently, under pressure, meet tight deadlines, deliver error-free work and collaborate with the entire team in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal client relationship skills are vital as the position works closely with internal clients to develop content and gain approvals from medical experts and clinicians, executives and administrators.
  • Experience in media, marketing, digital content and/or communications required. A great attitude, strong aesthetic senses in design, visual mediums including video and TV, a creative mind and team spirit are keys to success.
  • Must demonstrate an active use and understanding of the full spectrum of digital marketing platforms.

Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of photography and basic use of a camera is helpful

Computer Skills

Required:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Physical & Mental Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Familiarity working in project management systems such as ActiveCollab or Basecamp helpful
  • Position is partially remote and requires working at least three days on site at Loyola Medicine.
  • Position operates in a typical office environment. The area is well-lit, temperature-controlled and free from hazards. Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the telephone, with people in a number of different locations on technical issues.
  • Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a keyboard. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communications.
  • The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same period and adapt to interruptions.
  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently.
  • Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
  • Must be able to travel to the various Loyola Medicine sites as needed.
