SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the General Manager, High Point, NC, this position directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in supply planning, master scheduling, production scheduling, inventory control, customs compliance, warehousing, logistics, foreign-trade zone management, and management of materials in support of plant manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a department consisting of Planning & Scheduling, Inventory Management & Control, Customs Compliance, Logistics and Warehousing professionals, in support of plant manufacturing operations.
  • Lead the High Point Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)in support of site strategic goals . Serve as the subject matter expert and consultant to develop and continuously improve the process each cycle.
  • Build a high-performing team based on delegation of responsibility and empowering them with the necessary resources to complete their assignments, being accessible to team member needs, and developing their skills.
  • Oversee development of production plans and schedules that optimize plant manufacturing resources while at the same time provide the fastest, possible response to market demands.
  • Oversee management of the plant's warehouse which receive, sample, store, pack and ship raw materials and finished goods and ensure compliance with all security, safety & health, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the plant's inventory assets by balancing maximum customer service with minimum inventory investment, making adjustments to lot size rules and purchasing policies as required.
  • Track and report key performance indicators for materials management and related manufacturing activities. Initiate corrective action when departmental performance does not meet target or plan.
  • Work closely with the Plant Management to achieve business objectives and achieve maximum response to an ever-changing market.
  • Oversee Customs Compliance with respect to Import/Export Compliance, Customs-Trade Partners Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Foreign-Trade Zone Operations and Reporting, and Importer Self-Assessment participation.
  • Manages and initiates innovative ways to reduce cycle times and cost while maintaining or increasing quality utilizing Six Sigma and LEAN Principles.
  • Provide leadership and support on other assignments and projects as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BA/BS degree in Materials or Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration required. Other majors such as Engineering may be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years experience leading Materials Management or Supply Chain functions.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Extensive familiarity with ERP software with expertise in all Planning, Purchasing, and Inventory Control applications. Must be able to guide subordinates in the use of same applications and lead them to proficiency in same.
  • Ability to use a PC and the following software: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with Office Visio and Project is preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow spoken directives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to make decisions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

APICS Certification preferred; CFPIM and CSCP are highly desirable

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience with US Customs C-TPAT compliance and/or operating a US Foreign Trade Zone and related reporting is preferred.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Safety Glasses, Safety Shoes or Protective Slip-ons when in warehouse or plant
