We are currently seeking a Senior Hardware Architect to guide development of our measurement products that span several markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing solutions that address complex technical and business issues, providing technical leadership to the engineering group. Your solutions will integrate precision measurement technology , advanced electronics, and IoT connectivity into a wide variety of interesting applications and markets. You will help guide a talented engineering staff to evaluate key design tradeoffs and optimize designs. Job Responsibilities:
Architecture Development, documentation, and communication

  1. Be able to effectively communicate and articulate solutions and architecture at all levels of the organization, including senior management.
  2. Identifies and creates platform reuse opportunities through innovative designs and/or use of commercial off the shelf (COTS) products or sub-assemblies
  3. Create HW, FW and system architecture documentation for new technologies designed in for any platform that includes HW design implementation
  4. Capable of identifying optimal interfaces among system components, budgeting of common (shared) system-level requirements, and can manage these interfaces and budgets dynamically and effectively.
Technical Oversight
  1. Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; integrates suggestions, updates, and innovations into overall architecture and leads platform architecture process across business
  2. Provide technical oversight on NPD design efforts through involvement in design reviews and technical consultations.
Technical Evaluation
  1. Stays abreast of latest developments in new technologies, including communicating with technical staff and product managers on trends and opportunities.
  2. Support proof of concept HW and some FW/SW development as required to prove new technology concepts.
  3. Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture.
Assessing Business Needs
  1. Assess key business needs and opportunities and develop a software solution / architecture to address, enhance or extend software based on needs.
  2. Work with engineering teams from across the organization to understand future needs of hardware design.
Technology Road Mapping
  1. Development and ownership of near-term technology roadmap
  2. Contributes to corporate technology forecasts and roadmaps.
Communication
  1. Acts as a consultant to and influences the decisions of management on key initiatives.
  2. Effectively interacting and building trust with team members from many different backgrounds, including engineering management, engineering teams, program management and operations.

Basic Qualifications:
BS, Electrical Engineer or an Advanced degree in engineering, physics or relevant technical field is required.
PhD in electrical engineering or relevant technical field is desired.
Required Experience:
  1. Minimum of 15 years of experience complex electronic design, including embedded system design.
  2. Minimum of 5 years in a chief engineer, systems engineer, or hardware architect role.
  3. Proven track record as a creative and innovative problem solver.
  4. Although principally an EE, must have working knowledge across disciplines including: mechanical engineering, software, firmware, quality, production, and business operations.
  5. Demonstrated capability to lead and influence technical teams and individuals in addition to senior level management on technical direction.
  6. Enjoy learning new technologies.
  7. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical design and related implementation workflows.
  8. Strong modular/platform design experience
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in informal encounters and formal presentation environments.

Desired Experience:
  1. Measurement instrumentation design experience
  2. Signal processing experience
  3. FW and HW development experience
  4. Familiarity to connecting products to IoT (Internet of Things).
  5. Experience with business and marketing strategy and execution.
  6. Leadership experience on a project from the concept phase through the launch phase.
  7. Experience leading and mentoring other engineers.
  8. Optical measurement experience utilizing PMTs, APDs, PIN diodes, etc.
