Position:

As Intuitive grows, we’re adding a Senior Copy Editor to our Brand and Creative team. Our multi-disciplinary team oversees brand strategy, design, multimedia production, content, social media, digital marketing, and project management.

The Senior Copy Editor is a new position designed to help us drive the consistency and quality of our content—including presentations, corporate/product/clinical campaign materials, email marketing, video scripts, and digital and traditional collateral. You have a passion for language, are a stickler for grammar and punctuation, and skilled at applying editorial and brand guidelines to content development and review. You must be naturally detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks, including, but not limited to, working with writers and project managers at various stages of content development, fact checking technical and clinical information, making final adjustments to content before and after compliance review, and serving as our subject matter expert on editorial style questions.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in an editing capacity within a content or editorial team, and a collaborative approach to partnering within a highly matrixed organization. You'll be part of a seven-person content team working with us to build a content center of excellce at Intuitive.

Job Description:

  • Review content to ensure alignment with brand voice and tone, adherence to Intuitive editorial guidelines, and correct spelling and grammar.
  • Fact check initial and subsequent rounds of copy as necessary (understand scientific and medical data to ensure copy accurately represents the source from which it was taken).
  • Master Intuitive’s requirements for copy approval in regulated medical device environment, including use of claims matrices, disclosure/disclaimer requirements, and trademark guidance.
  • Work with copywriters, web writers, clinical writers, contract team members, and others to move content efficiently through the production process.
  • Master the Intuitive Brand and Editorial Guidelines and serve as subject matter expert for questions.
  • Build connections and alliances with others in the business who develop copy, including Executive Communications, Global Public Affairs, Marketing, Talent Acquisition, Tech Pubs., and Internal Comms.
  • Attend status and start-up meetings for all assigned projects; participate in the development of timelines when appropriate.
  • Communicate regularly with Senior Group Manager to ensure smooth copy flow throughout production cycle.

Skills/Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ experience copyediting; preferably within a healthcare or medical publishing company.
  • Skilled at AP Style and Chicago Manual of Style; working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style and FDA rules and regulations preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to prioritize workload, and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.
  • Strong organization skills in addition to heightened attention to detail.
