Summary of Duties:

The position is defined as approximately 65% research, 25% formal teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses, and 10% service with final effort distribution determined at time of offer based on candidate qualifications and interest. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and/or maintain a productive, extramurally funded research program that complements existing research activities in the School of Molecular Biosciences. We seek excellent scientists who will investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms of life using innovative cellular and animal models and state of the art technologies paired with genomic, genetic, biochemical, metabolic, and/or physiological approaches. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the school's undergraduate and graduate education programs and academic service activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences: biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, biology education research, or closely related field.

  • At Assistant Professor level a minimum of two years of productive post-doctoral research experience. At the Associate Professor level, demonstration of a successful research program supported by extramural funding is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct hypothesis-based research and publish high quality papers in top-tier journals.

  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses in the molecular life sciences.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity within research, teaching, and/or service.

  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research focus must be compatible with or complimentary to current research areas within the School of Molecular Biosciences.

Annual Salary:

Assistant Professor: $125,000-$140,000

Associate Professor: $140,000-$155,000

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
