The Supervisor of Shipping & Receiving is responsible for all activities in the Shipping & Receiving Departments including ensuring inventory accuracy, material flow throughout production, overall responsibility of shipping finished product to the customer on time, complete and undamaged, and oversite of all carrier claims. The position is also responsible for carrier relationships and scorecards

Major Accountability:

  • Supervises para-professional employees.
  • Delegates work assignments and provides guidance and direction to staff.
  • Sets day-to-day operational objectives for team.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Maintains/manages freight compliance in all loading and unloading of materials to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Reviews shipping schedules; coordinates carriers though carrier representatives or individual freight carriers.
  • Maintains communications with Production Control and Customer Service regarding ship dates, changes, and special instructions to ensure on-time shipments.
  • Ensures preparation of shipping documents, file maintenance, and shipping logs of all activities.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy via oversight of Receiving personnel, cycle counts, and material flow throughout the facility.
  • Leads coaching, counseling, performance management, associate development, and related activities in partnership with HR.
  • Ensures compliance of all Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, and Lean Standards in all Shipping/Receiving and Stockroom areas.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Fundamental software applications skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) for the job being performed.
  • Work effectively with all levels of management and staff.
