The Senior Tax Analyst role involves a wide range of responsibilities including the preparation and review of Federal and state direct and indirect tax accounting and compliance as well as researching tax technical matters. The Senior Tax Analyst role also assists in developing compliant tax policies for the company, implements them, and generates reports on their financial impact. The Senior Tax Analyst role is also expected to find the most effective ways for a company to meet its tax obligations, while also taking advantage of all opportunities related to credits and exemptions. The Senior Tax Analyst will work closely with other Finance & Accounting team members, as well as members within the organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing tax (sales/use, business & occupation, gross receipts, and property tax) returns for monthly, quarterly and annual filings
  • Researching tax issues and responding to notices
  • Interpreting and complying with state, local and Canadian GST, regulations, and legislation
  • Preparing for, and assisting with, tax audits
  • Maintaining Tax Exempt Certificates for Customers
  • Preparing and/or reviewing indirect tax filings
  • Providing guidance based on research of tax laws and regulations
  • Assisting with the reconciliation of tax general ledger accounts
  • Providing outside consultants with information to prepare State and Federal Income Tax returns
  • Developing and implementing process improvements
  • Assisting with the integration of acquired companies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other four-year degree with equivalent accounting experience
  • 10+ years accounting or tax experience
  • Strong computer technical skills - MS Excel
  • This position requires an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical skills and strong communication skills are essential
  • Knowledge of Vertex or similar software is preferred
