Senior Sales & Strategy Analyst

Store Support Center

We are searching for an experienced Senior Sales & Strategy Analyst for our Store Support Center, located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA 90040.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Senior Sales & Strategy Analyst isresponsible for the direction and coordination of planning and forecasting salesand margin. Collaboration and training in the process of Annual MerchandisePlans is critical to support profit and sales goals.  This Analyst is a liaison to other areas ofthe company, such as Accounting, Operations, and all of Sales andMerchandising.

Thisposition will be responsible for ongoing report updates for the Sales andMerchandising team and will create, update, enhance, and run scheduledreports and analyses.  The Analyst works independently and collaborativelyto develop ad-hoc reports and perform analyses.  This role reports oncompetitive market, store operational results and price conditions as well asprovides information to assist management in developing pricing and operationalstrategies and policies to achieve optimum strategic market positioning andincome performance.

ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned or required:

  • Match to high level sales and profit metrics for the company
  • Tie all individual Category, Sub-Category plans by week to Company targets
  • Create, develop, update, and modify reports and analyses using Business Objects such as:
    • Category Management Report Cards
    • Margin and Sales Reporting
    • Create and Publish Performance Charts and Graphs
    • Annual Category Sales and Margin Planning
    • Recap Promotional Events
  • Perform Promotional Analysis
    • Manage sales budget by store, by day for 250 plus stores.
    • Assess, interpret, and analyze historical sales data in development of a thorough, accurate, and supportable forecast for use in managing ongoing operations and planning.
    • Continually seek, report, evaluate, and make recommendations to leadership to improve forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes. Work with Sales & Merchandising, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to understand key performance drivers and forecast dependencies.
    • Expand data sources used in the forecasting process and integrate all available data sources to assess and monitor trends and changes
    • Performs revenue and expense variance analysis, comparing actual financial performance to plan.  Impact modeling to project cost of changing pricing policy.
    • Investigates key indicator performance such as sales trends, store results, productivity, and gross margin trends.
    • Tracks and reports on the performance of Competitive Pricing, Promotional Pricing and Sales & Merchandising Programs.
  • Reviews and analyzes item and category sales performance, and customer responses to pricing strategies to identify possible issues/improvements and provide management with recommendations and resolutions.
  • Work with AC Nielsen partners on Pricing, Promotion and Assortment goals.
  • Create ad hoc reports using Business Objects, Access, and Teradata.
  • May serve on ad hoc teams and/or committees to provide analyses and professional insight on key price, product, and customer interactions. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of educationand experience; with a minimum of 2 - 5 years prior pricing/sales/marketing/financialexperience.  Must have knowledge of retailsales and price advertising laws.

OTHER SKILLS

  •  Must have strong analytical skills and have knowledge of SQL. 
  • Analytic skills must include the ability to see the big picture and the demonstration of strong business intuition.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Abilityto read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professionaljournals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Abilityto work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statisticalinference.  Ability to apply conceptssuch as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practicalsituations.

COMPUTER/PC SKILLS
Personal computer skills including the MSOffice programs; Excel, Power Point and Word and the ability to apply theseskills to essential duties and responsibilities is required.  Must haveexcellent PC skills particularly in presentation packages and spreadsheetskills including graphing/analysis and prior experience working with relationaldatabases and reporting applications. 

REASONING ABILITY
Abilityto define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematicalor diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
