Position Overview

The Novelis Finishing plant located in Davenport, IA has an immediate opening for a Senior Quality Analyst - Laboratory Technician. The purpose of this role is to assist the Quality Department in attainment of quality standards and objectives for optimum yield and cost of conversion. Supervises Supplier Improvement programs. Develops and implements procedures to define, measure, calibrate, evaluate, correct, and control production processes to assure product conformance to customer requirements. Supervises day-to-day testing. Collaborates with customers to insure compliance to requirements.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities Include:

• Oversees and maintains daily product quality at the Finishing (or Casting) Plant.
• Develops and implements standard practices and work process steps to assure proper testing and operating practices to meet shipment schedules and customer requirements.
• Monitors and manages the Production Hold area.
• Assists the Technical Services Manager in the implementation and monitoring of programs of the Quality Improvement Process and ISO.
• Develops, monitors, and assists in practices and test procedures to evaluate incoming raw materials.
• Provides technical assistance and reports to Sales/Marketing in the development of new products.
• Acts as a key link to customers and sales in documenting, evaluating, and resolving customer complaints and questions.
• Is responsible for coordinating new product developments with vendors and reporting on status of these developments to Sales/Marketing.
• Provides suppliers with feedback on their product quality and product trends to maintain good finished product quality.
• Acts as technical liaison to Production personnel in troubleshooting daily production and quality problems.

Required Qualifications:

• Good computer skills and must be proficient with Microsoft office products.
• Strong interpersonal skills, Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Two-year technical degree or equivalent work experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
• Two or more years of Quality Assurance, or related manufacturing experience required.
• Manufacturing environment experience with metal and/or paint background preferred.

Location Profile

The finishing mill in Davenport opened in 1906 and employees more than 100 people. The facility cold rolls aluminum to a desired gauge anneals to temper levels coats and slits the rolled sheet to size. The facility produces mill finish coil and painted coil to serve the building and construction industry. Davenport Finishing has an active social responsibility committee that supports many organizations in the local community including Habitat for Humanity Riverbend Food Bank CASI and more. The facility also sponsors local events including their partnership with Junior Achievement in sponsoring and presenting at the Advanced Manufacturing Career Day.
