GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored RECOVER initiative seeks to understand, prevent, and treat the long-term complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Massachusetts General Brigham is partnering with the NIH to launch the RECOVER Data Resource Core (DRC) Other Transaction Award (OTA), which will contribute to the collection, coordination, and analysis of data on COVID-19 patients, including so-called "long-haulers," throughout the nation. The contact PI is located at the Massachusetts General Hospital Biostatistics. The other PIs are located at Mass General Brigham Research Informatics and Personalized Medicine.

The team of investigators are looking for a well-organized, dynamic, highly motivated senior project manager to help deliver on the near- and long-term objective and manage our internal organizational programs to achieve milestones.

The project manager will report directly to the contact PI, lead weekly calls between each of five DRC teams (Leadership, Project Management, Biostatistics, Data Portal and Cloud Computing) to ensure communication and rapid deployment of the immediate tasks. Main study tasks include regulatory aspects (Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs), Data Use Agreements (DUAs) between MGB and each site, ATO for the DRC Central Data Hub), and informatics implementation of the i2b2 CDM at each site, linkage to the Central Data Hub, quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) of informatics work and data coordination and analysis. The project manager will create the schedule to allow for effective time management and meeting of deadlines, manage the teams of managers, administrative staff, architects, developers and analysts to ensure tasks are completed in the correct order, manage the scope of the project, and help resolve any barriers to successful implementation of project objectives.

Well-developed organizational, communication and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced research environment are required. The ideal candidate must exhibit a high level of expertise, comfort, and independence in managing and facilitating objectives for a complex cross-functional project team that spans Mass General Brigham and external collaborations around the world. Previous experience with program and/or project management and a history of completing projects to specification is strongly preferred.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Definition and Tracking

  • Track project progress and communicate with stakeholders
  • Prepare and disseminate communications with external stakeholders
  • Work closely with team members to gain an understanding of data processing methods and tools
  • Document and facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and resource requirements
  • Translate clearly defined project needs into deliverables, milestones, and timelines by establishing the project plan
  • Coordinate project dashboards for multiple tracks of work
  • Track progress of key milestones, ensuring execution of key deliverables
  • Manage changes in timelines, deliverables and budget as needed
  • Work closely with project leaders to establish quality criteria and monitor quality of projects
  • Conduct project evaluations and assessment of results
  • Actively seek out best practices; transmit this information to the project team and revises project plan accordingly
  • Develop timelines, task lists, and operational plans for the completion of research projects, grant deliverables, and laboratory management goals in coordination with the principal investigators.
Project management items from SOM:
  • Create and maintain a Manual Of Operations (MOO) that describes the operations of the DRC.
  • Obtain and help manage participant data with the sites and maintain QA/QC of data
  • Collaborate with the project analysis/manager and data manager/database administrator partners within the data repositories to ensure that data are ingested accurately, and in the manner most amenable to analysis using standard tools, and that appropriate tooling is integrated and/or developed for analysis where necessary and made available for future use.
  • Provide and maintain a schedule for submission of all data to appropriate database
  • Communicate and provide technical assistance to researchers, clinicians and PASC data collection sites
  • In collaboration with CSC and PBC, develop and coordinate staff training for all data-related activities, use of CDES, use of CRFs and data collection tools such as use of a Laboratory information management system (LIMS) by the PBC, to allow for standardization of biological sample collection, interrogation and handling, etc. from receipt to storage/processing.
  • Collaborate with CSC and PBC in training investigators and staff on data management and data usage.
  • In partnership with the CSC, develop and manage the study website to serve as both an internal resource and public interface. Build focus area-specific domains to facilitate interactions.

Communication/Reporting
  • Ensure appropriate communication with all project stakeholders regarding timelines and status, deadlines, data requirements, logistics and all other project-related issues
  • Facilitate project meetings to continually align the team around goals and communicate blocking issues
  • Facilitate reporting on Objects and Milestones to NIH according to OTA reporting schedule

Compliance
  • Ensure appropriate funds are in place and tracks financial status of all projects relative to available budgets
  • Work with Compliance office to generate and maintain appropriate IRB for work specific to project plan (if necessary)
  • Ensure that projects and activities adhere to institutional guidelines with regards to safety and regulatory compliance

Management and Teamwork
  • Coordinate project management for Administrative, Biostatistics/Epidemiology, Data Portal and Cloud Computing tasks with other project managers.
  • Delegate tasks to Clinical Research Coordinators, if necessary
  • Lead and develop agendas and minutes for meetings related to ongoing projects.
  • Identify roadblocks and alternative strategies for the completion of projects on-time and to specification and communicates updated information on at-risk deliverables or deadlines to the principal investigators.
  • Develop detailed protocol documents that meet federal/institutional standards.
  • Ensure document consistency.
  • Attend meetings as needed
  • Assist with Data Transfer Agreements, Data Use Agreements and sub-agreements.
  • Maintain communication platforms.
  • Coordinate website content development with stakeholders and study leaders.

Education

• BA/BS required
• Masters Preferred

Work Experience

• Minimum of 7 years of progressively more responsible experience in a research-related
field
• Supervisory experience required with financial management background
