Description of Role/Job Summary

The Sr. Product Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping global marketing strategy for assets in various stages of development. In collaboration with the global brand team, this individual will play a key role in shaping the market and building brands by developing launch/pre-launch strategies for priority assets with the goal to transform lives around the globe. The Sr. Product Manager will work in tandem with the Director, Global Marketing to maximize the launch and post launch success of Otsuka assets including those within Otsuka alliances & partnerships (as applicable). The chosen individual will need to demonstrate the ability to lead workstreams, partner effectively and foster trust and collaboration with development teams, cross-functional teams, alliances/partnerships (as applicable) and equally importantly, with global Otsuka regions [U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and other Asian regions].

Job Description

  • Optimize asset(s) value over the entire lifecycle by proactively identifying opportunities for clinical and market differentiation, by working with global development, cross-functional and regional teams (strategic thinking)
  • Through partnership with global cross-functional and regional teams, identify regional needs/considerations in shaping development and commercialization decisions (collaboration, leadership)
  • Shepherd the development of the annual global asset plan including the development of marketing tactical plans (includes global market research, brand analytics and marketing strategy projects) (organization, leadership, strategic thinking)
  • Actively collaborate and/or lead the execution of projects identified in the annual marketing tactical plans and support the ongoing management of annual marketing budgets (operational effectiveness)
  • Play a key role in supporting the commercial transition of late-stage assets to regional brand teams (organization, operational effectiveness, collaboration)
  • Champion strategic alignment of regional brand plans with global asset plan strategic priorities and global positioning for late stage and in-line global assets (collaboration, leadership)
  • Support, lead, or co-lead as needed, development of business cases, team and leadership updates/presentations and other commercially focussed initiatives as directed


Qualifications & Key Competencies
  • Five or more years of pharmaceutical experience in in-line brand marketing required, (including identifying market and customer needs, building strategic plans, tactical plans and brand promotions). Prior experience with successfully launching a brand(s) considered an asset.
  • Ability to create a strong network and trust cross-functionally and cross-regionally
  • Analytic and financial acumen in identifying key business questions, brand analytics guiding and assessing forecasting
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in an alliance environment is highly desirable
  • Proven project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment required
  • Cross-functional pharmaceutical experience (market research, sales, training, analytics, medical affairs, etc.) considered an asset
  • Prior global marketing experience, highly desirable
  • B.A. or B.Sc. degree required, Master's Degree or MBA considered an asset
  • Up to 30% travel is required*, based upon business needs.
    * Currently no travel due to COVID-19
