The Role

This Internal Network Implementation Engineer is the glue between our Architecture and Operations teams. This Engineer is responsible for creating, delivering and supporting solutions, technologies and internal services to CenturyLink related to all data networks that support our internal users, and the needs of all CenturyLink.

This role requires someone with deep and proven technical acumen. Someone able to lead small to medium sized network teams developing and deploying multi vendor, multi services networks.

The Main Responsibilities

Coach/mentor junior Engineers
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong (Industry Level) knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications which include detailed routing on LAN/WAN networks, IP telephony, security and network monitoring, network troubleshooting, load balancing, firewalls and VOIP.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Minimum qualification of at least 6-8 years of experience with multivendor IP based networks.
Expert level understanding of all layers of the OSI model
Expert level understanding of IP routing and switching
Expert understanding of transport mediums such as DS1, DS3, OCx, Ethernet, etc.
Expert level understanding of OSPF
Strong level understanding of BGP to include policies and route manipulation
Strong VOIP background and understand SIP, SBC’s, Voice Gateways and Call Managers
Strong understanding of all of the following: quality of service, application acceleration, data security firewalls, multicast, next generation (cloud) IP switching and routing, Cisco TelePresence, Call Handling ACD.
Extensive experience with but not limited to the following vendors: Cisco, Brocade, Juniper, Foundry, Nortel, Avaya, Nokia, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, WildPackets, Gigamon, ACME Packet and Tektronix.
Load Balancing background utilizing F5, Brocade, Foundry
Deep understanding of Processes, Standards, Provisioning, Alarming, Tools and Event Management that support IP networks, voice platforms, video conferencing systems and NGFW’s.
Ability to multi-task and communicate complicated technical issues across and upwards within management hierarchy.
CCNA/CCNP or equivalent level certifications strongly desired
Detailed technical documentation/network diagram creation experience/training
Must be able to set and accomplish goals with little or no daily/weekly direction.
