Job Description Summary: BASIC FUNCTION:Under the direction of the Executive Dean, Research and Planning, responsible for organizing, designing, and assisting in the coordination and implementation of a comprehensive institutional research program which includes designing, conducting, writing, and presenting College-wide research and evaluation studies; providing information and research for planning and evidence-based decision-making; supporting long range planning functions, institutional effectiveness processes, and assessment of student learning outcomes through collaboration, research, and evaluation. Manages, organizes, and maintains institutional research databases and automated reporting systems.

Essential Duties: REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Perform a variety of professional level administrative staff duties related to but not limited to curricula, enrollment, retention, matriculation, staffing patterns, student and faculty characteristics, program vitality and evaluation, community characteristics, student achievement, student learning outcomes, accreditation, and systemwide initiatives.Manages, organizes, designs, coordinates, and implements all phases of research and evaluation studies, including selecting appropriate research designs, collecting and analyzing data, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and presenting research results to various audiences.Assists in the development of automated reports and data displays, including enrollment reports, student success and retention rate reports, and data for program review.Organizes and manages the technical and analytical support provided by Research and Planning in support of the College’s global assessment processes, including Guided Pathways, Student Equity and Achievement, matriculation, and other initiatives that may arise.Provides advanced technical and analytical support related to institutional efforts to assess student learning outcomes.Provides technical and analytical support for the College’s strategic and master planning efforts, including performing activities such as generating enrollment forecasts, conducting studies of growth, and performing internal and external scans.Executes ongoing and special requests for data and information involving the aggregation, analysis, and reporting of data extracted from internal relational and external databases, as well as conducting focus groups, surveys, and other qualitative research as needed.Assumes primary lead for the Precision Campus database and for the College’s program review process, including managing calendars, training colleagues on data access within Precision Campus, providing additional program review data as needed, and analyzing Program Improvement Objective (PIO) requests.Conducts survey research, including design and administration of surveys using various media.Interprets research findings and communicates findings to audiences with varying levels of understanding and knowledge about institutional research.Prepares research agendas and calendars; tracks progress of research projects.Plans, designs, and consults with planning councils, divisions, committees, departments and faculty regarding a variety of projects related to the College’s institutional and program planning, research, assessment, evaluation, effectiveness, and decision-making efforts.Conducts meetings as appropriate to provide for proper coordination of activities and communication of new developments.Coordinates and monitors the research component of the department’s website.Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination equivalent to: a master’s degree from an accredited institution, with a major in social science research, economics, education, business administration, public administration, organizational analysis, information science, or other research-oriented specialization, or graduation from a recognized four-year college or university preferably with a major in social science research, economics, education, business administration, public administration, organizational analysis, information science, or other research-oriented specialization AND one year of professional-level experience in a research, analytical, or institutional planning position.

Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
